Go North East: Service Suggestions v2
(05 Aug 2018, 8:51 pm)Arcticrossy92 Yeah a do see your point, I always think a direct link is better and there isn't any from the East end of Newcastle.
I'm sure years ago Stagecoach ran a service from Walker direct to Ikea, with a brander Mercedes Minibus.

(06 Aug 2018, 1:26 pm)Arcticrossy92 I don't think so, from what I remember it was a Newcastle Mercedes Benz 711D all Blue, with Ikea branding and was a dedicated service rather than existing service.
I didn't last long, although I was young then so may have gotten it wrong.

(06 Aug 2018, 4:20 pm)westy3738 They ran the S2 from Metrocentre to Ikea, with a dedicated blue liveried Merc. This started at a time before Asda was built or much of the other surrounding shops were developed, so Ikea was out on a limb at the time.
There was some services from the West End of Newcastle, 13 and 17A which made their way to the Metrocentre...think they became the 4/5 before getting the chop.

(08 Aug 2018, 2:24 pm)tcts24 Not sure if this helps? But 20 years ago there was a Blue Bus Services 3 that went to Walker and a Busways 33 / 133 that went to the MetroCentre. Could be where the confusion comes from.

Seems I missed out service 13 yesterday which went to the MetroCentre via the west end of Newcastle. If you search the net for E447AFT you'll find a blue and cream Mercedes-Benz 709D operating the 13 near Gallowgate by the looks of it. I remember using the shuttle 2 to Ikea with my mother in the late 90's. I recall it being an elderly Mercedes in an absolutely shocking state. It was overall blue lettered up for Ikea and I'd hazard a guess that it would probably have been from the same batch as 1447 but I couldn't be certain.

(08 Oct 2018, 3:34 pm)JM03 42 could be extended for the 42B and most of the 43 is covered by the W3, would this replace it?

(08 Oct 2018, 8:45 pm)V514DFT My reason for thinking the 42B is because the 42 operates via Dudley as does the 42A so i dont think it could serve Annitsford aswell as its current route but could extend to East Hartley and yeah the 43 would completely replace the W3

(08 Oct 2018, 9:51 pm)JM03 Ok, I like the idea of both. Maybe the 43 could extend beyond to Walker Terminal? Fore Lane Ends? Coach Lane campus. The 44 and 44A could replace the 5,terminate the 5 at Jarrow,if the 43 were to extend what about terminating it at Forest Hall,it could operate as you said via Walker Bus Terminal,Coach Lane Campus, but additionally serve Freeman Hospital, the Four Lane Ends the Forest Hall, replacing service K3
Also another idea extending the brand
44 Wallsend-Battle Hill-Silverlink-Tyne Tunnel trading estate-Jarrow-Monkton Business park
44A North Shields-Ferry Landing-Chirton Dene-Royal Quays-Jarrow-Monkton Business park
Strengthening links across the river. 1x hourly each- All services link

Maybe one 5 a hour to shields would work better and one 44A a hour to do the other lot and evening/Sunday timetable can stay the same. Replacing the K3 would possibly also replace the 18 at night too if it can take a slightly different route to the day or maybe even make a loop then the next 43 could meet it at Walker. Another idea if the 18 was to stay could be that it could be extended to Beton Asda or maybe Cobalt doubling up with the 1 (probe better for stagecoach suggestions)

(15 Oct 2018, 3:44 pm)pbjd The N58 and original N97 didn't work, and there's a reason the N20 only went to Carville. I can't see any of these working.
