203:- Dalton Park - Woods Terrace - Cornwall Estate - Murton Station - Easington Lane - Haswell - Shotton - Peterlee

New 202 Murton Station - Cornwall Estate - Woods Terrace - Dalton Park - Cold Helseldon - Easington Village - Easington Colliery - Peterlee

New 65 Same as it used to be, but cut back to Dalton Park instead of Seaham, with some early morning/late afternoon services going to Seaham

3 new services that run Seaham - Murton to cover the loss of the 265 and 202

Not sure of a number...For now M1, M2, M3

M1 Murton Station Estate - Barnes Road - Cornwall Estate - Woods Terrace - Wembley - Dalton Park - Fox Cover - Dawdon - Seaham

M2 Murton Station Estate - Station Road - Church Lane - Williams Road - Woods Terrace - Dalton Park - Denside - The Avenue - Seaham

M3 Murton Station Estate - Stephens Road - Wellfield Road - Barnes Road - Coronation Street - Woods Terrace - Dalton Park - Deneside - Westlea - Station Road - Northlea - Seaham

Run Hourly, combining the frequency to 20 minutes between Dalton Park and Seaham

Change the 238 altogether, instead have a new service

Seaham - Foz Cover - Dalton Park - Woods Terrace - Murton Station - Hetton - Houghton with some services going to Rainton Bridge

Also add Dalton Park to the list of stops on the X9 for a half hourly Tyne-Tees Service

Can’t see any of that working, can’t see GNE entering areas down there in Arriva territory, and can’t see GNE doing anything south of Hartlepool to Middlesbrough as it stagecoach territory.

Further to one of my earlier posts, here is my concept for 2x new super fast express services from Blyth to Newcastle operating under the 'X-Lines' brand. These services would exploit an un-catered niche of providing super fast and frequent public transport links from Blyth and surrounding areas to Newcastle, with most journeys only taking 40 minutes from end to end (45-50 mins during peak times). These services would near enough provide the same journey times from Blyth and surrounding areas to Newcastle akin to an extended T&W Metro service.

Buses along common sections of route would operate every 15 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes with Sunday daytime buses operating every 30 minutes. A regular evening service would also operate.

Services X91 & X92 would operate under the 'X-Lines' brand using 6x Mercedes Benz Citaro single deck vehicles with the following features:
- Free Wi-Fi
- Seat back USB charing ports
- Next stop announcements
- Comfortable seating

The X-Lines livery for the vehicles used would be based on the X-Lines X30 livery but using a blue shade rather than green owing to the coastal links provided by services X91 & X92.

Services X91 & X92 would offer greater flexibility regarding road and traffic conditions due to both services running non-stop to Newcastle after serving Blyth and surrounding areas.

- Journeys from Blyth would be a minimum of 13-15 minutes quicker than the journeys provided by the X10 & X11.
- Journeys on unique sections of the X91 in Blyth would be up to 15 minutes quicker than journeys provided by the X10.
- Journeys on unique sections of the X92 in Blyth would be up to 15 minutes quicker than journeys provided by the X11.
- Journeys from the Black Diamond in Newsham would be either 10 or 15 minutes quicker than both the X10 & X11 (depending on which service).
- Service X92 would open up new links for residents living in East Cramlington where new houses are being built in the new Barley Meadows development. Residents around the Double Row area particularly those who live in the Wheatfields development would also benefit.

Operational Info:
- Mon to Sat daytimes / PVR x6 / 15 minute frequency
- Mon to Sat evenings / PVR x2 - X3 / 30 - 60 minute frequency
- Sunday daytimes / PVR x3 / 30 minute frequency
- Sunday evenings / PVR x1 / 90 minute frequency

Ticket prices for special route saver (only valid on X-Lines X91 & X92):
- Adult day: £5
- Adult week: £20
- Adult month: £75
- Adult yearly: £750

Attached is the timetable I created as well as the routes that the X91 & X92 would operate between Blyth and the A189.

42/A,to additionally serve Hadrian Park up until the 310 starts serving Hadrian Park,42 to Continue to Whitley Bay via The Broadway, and Cullercoats metro
11 withdrawn from serving East Howdon and operate straight along Tynemouth Road to SITA,it will then use the bridge to rejoin its current route at Howdon Road
40/41-to extend to East Howdon replacing service 11,it would use the bridge next to SITA

Nope, more of an express for the 56, as this won't serve areas such as: Carley Hill, Witherwack and Red House... Also an extension for 35 passengers to Heworth, Gateshead and Newcastle for easy access to leisure faciltys, employment opportunities or just a short trip to the City Centre's of both thriving towns in the region.

I wouldn't say Sunderland was thriving!

Have you been into the City Centre recently?

Go North East are not going to 'rival' the 319...if they thought it was that much of an asset they would have taken it on commercially (still as part of the 5 presumably) when the contract was awarded to GCT

If it was such a crucial/important/well-used direct link then surely it would still exist today...the fact that it doesn't tells you maybe it's not going to be GNE's top priority to reinstate it

Wasn't it not Nexus who told GNE they needed to introduce a direct link from Hebburn to Sunderland so they decided to change the 9 instead of making a new route? From a passenger point of view and a frequent user of the route, interest was lost when they sent the 9 to LLE and people went to the second best option which was ferry and 20. Was bound to happen when thy took away the direct link, would be welcomed back at Shields, most people just use the ferry nd 20 now as its more frequent which means less waiting time at SS than Jarrow

A bus service from North Shields to Sunderland existed since just after the opening of the Tyne Tunnel in November 1967 until recently, when service 9 was diverted to Hebburn. There was one exception to this, when for a short period a service 319 operated between Jarrow and Percy Main Metro.

When service 9 was diverted, GNE's excuse was that this was because of demand from Hebburn, despite Hebburn having a link to Sunderland via Pelaw on the Metro (the Metro link between North Shields and Sunderland can only be done through Newcastle, a ridiculously long journey for 2 locations which are only about 8 miles apart). So from having no direct bus at all to Sunderland, Hebburn suddenly got one, with a frequency of 3 times per hour on weekdays.

I ask why GNE could not have given both towns a link to Sunderland. The short journeys between Sunderland and Jarrow could have been extended to Hebburn, with the hourly frequency maintained to Shields. In the evening there are 2 buses per hour, so one could have gone to each of the towns. I think it was only for GNE's convenience that the ridiculous decision was taken to extend service 5 into Shields.

Going back to the original service between North Shields and Sunderland, that service started in Blyth and took in Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. In my opinion it was also for GNE's convenience that the direct link from North Shields and Blyth were discontinued.

The service you are describing from Blyth to Sunderland was the original 310 (not the 310 that operates now) with the original 319 operating Sunderland-Cramlington that was axed in 2007 so i imagine the 310 went along with it,but there was a 319 that operated Jarrow-Percy Main in 2010 but was axed,if i remember right there was a 9 and 9A,one went to Wallsend and the other went to North Shields and both operated to Sunderland, but dont know how long that lasted but i also remember a 59 operating Wallsend-Jarrow in 2010 then Wallsend lost its link through the tunnel completely
