(04 Apr 2021, 7:24 pm)peter In this instance it would be, because the 202 would still run to the same times from Easington-Seaham, preserving the interworking patterns between the 202, 204, 208 and 265 - on the Peterlee end the 202 doesn't interwork with anything because it runs to Station Town. Likewise the short 208's are currently standalone. So my suggestion sees the 202 take the 208 route from Easington to Peterlee and back rather than taking the quicker route to Peterlee and continuing to Station Town. The Easington-Peterlee section of the 202 wouldn't be replaced because you already have the 55 and the Peterlee-Station Town section is replaced by the X6. Alternatively, the X6 could come off the A19 at Easington and operate the current 202 route from there - the 202 currently operates via Moorcock on the way to Station Town and preserves links across Peterlee - but of course that would increase the Sunderland-Peterlee journey time.

For those interested the interworking pattern at present:
202 - Station Town to Seaham
265 - Seaham to Durham
208 - Durham to Peterlee
208 - Peterlee to Durham
204 - Durham to Sherburn Loop
265 - Durham to Seaham
202 - Seaham to Station Town

As mentioned above, the short 208 journeys from Peterlee to Easington run standalone.
The 209 interworks with the :15 201 while the 210 interworks with the :45 201.

Yeah that's fair play then thought you might have not known about. Knew it was a tight interwork thought the short one worked with something but your right it doesn't.

If GNE are trying new things a shopping centre hopper between 4 of the main shopping centres in the NE (DP, Metrocentre, The galleries & Eldon Square)

Could be numbers SH1 and do: Eldon Square-Metrocentre-The Galleries-Dalton Park

I imagine ot would be quite popular especially during Christmas shopping season.

People still go out for their Christmas shopping?!

I think rather than providing a service between the main shopping centres they'd be better of focusing more on the out of town retail parks. As much as I like having a walk around the Metrocentre, if I'm actually doing some shopping I'll be going to a retail park as it's less of a faff carrying things around

There's already plenty of buses between the Metrocentre & Newcastle, can't see any need for more buses there. Metrocentre to the Galleries was the X88, so that could make a comeback.

The X1 has it from Washington all the way to Houghton/Easington Lane. Then maybe a shuttle bus between Easington Lane and Dalton Park, or maybe just extend the X1 to Dalton Park altogether...

Id have it enter Barley Mow and Vigo. Let it stop near the houses of the people visiting and working in the QE. Rather than have it skirt the estates and park up on the edge of Barley Mow for 10/15 mins at a time

The Metrocentre is literally the definition of an out of town retail park....and as it adapts it’ll still be heaving at peak times once restrictions lift, though it may be more back to its original experience shopping vs traditional shopping.

To be honest, I think the whole network in Birtley needs looking at. Whether it be the 81/82, the 25/925 or anything that isn't the 21.
So many one-way loops, duplications and replications (and not just along the Durham Road corridor) and many other areas reliant on taxibus or Nexus subsidies - despite its proximity to a number of key employment areas alongside what seems like a never-ending quest to build new housing.

A decent suggestion. Nexus service M71 withdrawn and replaced by service 74, running from Westerhope, then M71 route to Kingston Park and then X47 route to Eldon Square. At other times re-route service 72 from Westerhope to Kingston Park along Ponteland Road and then normal route to Newcastle. With services T1, T2 and T3 possibly getting withdrawn, other services could ve re-routed.

I'd love to see this.
48 Airport to Northumberland Park via Dinnington, Brunswick, Wideopen, Seaton Burn, Dudley, Northumberland Business Park, Annitsford, Killingworth, Backworth then into Northumberland Park

I think this would be a good addition for a few reasons.

Number one it gives a 30 minutes service between this and the 42A between Dinnington and Killingworth

Number two. I think it would profit with serving the Northumberland Business Park

Number 3 it would give people a better connection after Killingworth to get to Northumberland Park as the closest service there is the 54 and a quicker link to the metro

I'd also have it go via Beacon Lough Road and Easedale Gardens to give that area a better service to the QE. They've got loads of layover time to play with so I'm sure it could be worked in to the timetable.

The services around there have been decimated over the years. The estate around Windsor Road/Lansbury Drive used to have the 721/777 every 30 minutes, now it's just left with the 23. I'd suggest something like sending a 28/28A around there, even if it's only one an hour.

Yeah, that Easedale Gardens one is a good shout.
Makes sense. Minutes from the Hospital, but two buses to get there.

As for Windsor Road, there was the OK 727 which went along there too.
Pretty sure the 184 did at one point as well.

Again, minutes from a key location (TVTE), but potentially 2 or 3 buses. Is there any wonder places like Lamesley is jam-packed with traffic (and delaying the 28a and 29), when people can't easily use public transport to key locations.

Sounds like a good suggestion. I wonder if passenger numbers would be any good. A new service between Kingston Park/Dinnington and Northumberland Park would be a good addition. Providing another service for the Airport and Killingworth would be useful too.

I'm yet to ride the 42A to Killingworth from Kingston Park. The full route from Wallsend to Kingston Park is a nice ride out.

Number 3 it would give people a better connection after Killingworth to get to Northumberland Park as the closest service there is the 54 and a quicker link to the metro
