(27 Jun 2021, 3:38 pm)Adrian The Dunston Dynamo sounds like an NBA team.

Which City does the 55 proposal serve?

It doesnt but.....
Technically because the 50, 5 & 55 interwork, so you could get away with it.
The brand could be changed to Sea & ???? (I'll leave the ? To the rest of you)
I would also send all three services down ocean road if possible.

Why? It'd have to go back on itself to get back to the Metrocentre, to then reduce the frequency on the Metrocentre - Crawcrook section to half its current frequency. Google times it as 27 minutes by car, so it'd be about 40 by bus.

2/2a. should extend the service from silksworth to shiney row/penshaw via east Herrington and Herrington burn opening new connections , service 2 will be circular from penshaw to Sunderland, silksworth , penshaw then into Washington with service 2A vice versa

X1 to Peterlee have been done before and carried fresh air most of the time and you got service 55 every half hourly in that area. Wouldn’t mind seeing an hourly journey extended from Easington lane to Haswell, running a circular route around Haswell , opening lost connections to Hetton and houghton and onward travel to Washington and Newcastle

Extend service 35 to high pittington and terminate the 35 at Sunderland , with service 61 taking on the 35 route to heworth, with service 60 to shields instead of service 20

Why is everyone obsessed with the 60 going to South Shields instead of the 20. They tried it years ago with service 37 parkside to South Shields via Sunderland and it never worked so for axed.

Probably axed as it was only 1 or maybe 2 an hour daytime journey per and using a minibus, while the 35/35a/36 was still running to shields as the main service.

I think there’s more obsession about the little coasters using older solos

Exactly! Why would someone from a coastal town want to go to another coastal town? You'd be surprised at the number of people travelling through from Houghton and Durham to South Shields, especially during the summer.

(27 Jun 2021, 4:20 pm)ASX_Terranova It doesnt but.....
Technically because the 50, 5 & 55 interwork, so you could get away with it.
The brand could be changed to Sea & ???? (I'll leave the ? To the rest of you)
I would also send all three services down ocean road if possible.

Quite like your 55 idea. From Monkton Lane I would send it on to the A194 (White Mare Pool way) and have it serve Follingsby Park, then on to Concord. From there I would send it to Blackfell and Oxclose then onto the Galleries. As a result I would withdraw Little Pinks 86. I would then increase the frequency of the 85 on evenings and Sundays to every half hour and extend to Teal Farm to replace the 86 journeys.

The little pinks network is fine at the moment. I would potentally extend the 55 to serve Biddick (Parkway) and Harraton (San Lorenzo, Bonemill Lane)

(30 Jun 2021, 12:10 pm)ASX_Terranova The little pinks network is fine at the moment. I would potentally extend the 55 to serve Biddick (Parkway) and Harraton (San Lorenzo, Bonemill Lane)

I personally wouldn't extend it to serve Biddick and Harraton as both villages are pretty well served at  the moment. If I'm correct I think Biddick has around 6-7 buses and hour during the day and Harraton around 4 in total I think? I agree the Little Pinks are fine at the moment but I think if the 55 intergrated the 86 route there would be potential for more passengers.

Not round the back in biddick since the 180 & 493 were withdrawn and nothing on bonemill lane since the 393 was axed, you could also include rickleton way (293) & Cambrian Way (148). I'm just trying to cover every basis.

I lose track of the Washington services, but pretty sure Harraton and Rickleton have more than that.

2/2a, 8 and 81.
Appreciate the 2/2a doesn't quite hit Rickleton mind. A fair drop from days of yore mind, when there was the likes of the 294, 179, 180, X6, 777, 638 etc.

I'm not sure the loop roads in Biddick or Lambton need a service to be honest.
As for Bonemill Lane - there's the 8. Scoots straight down it to/from Harraton and Rickleton.

Yeah Harraton is currently served by the services you mentioned all on a half hourly frequency. The 2 serves Lambton and Harraton with the 2A going through Biddick then onto Fatfield etc. Still that is more services than I realised.

While I think it would be a good idea for the Biddick and Lambton loop roads to be given a service, I doubt GNE would be willing to do this as there is no where for the buses to stop, apart from on a Hail and Ride basis which isn't always the best. It may be helpful to the elderly mind.
