(26 Nov 2016, 1:06 pm)Dan No - its MOT has expired so won't enter service until tested.
No MPDs officially withdrawn as a result of 698 and 700 entering service yet, though 562 and 573 are presently VOR and unlikely to be repaired.

(26 Nov 2016, 1:56 pm)Dan They'd have a difficult time doing that, unplanned, without a working radio in each bus!

(26 Nov 2016, 7:42 pm)Ambassador I doubt it would have mad enough much difference in the end. A colleague was on an X1 which got stuck for ages at St Mary's Place
Angels still run horribly out of time despite radios....
Blackett St is a huge issue as is Wellington St.
They really need to review routes into Newcastle for match days and basically....anytime it gets busy.

Match day causes a grid lock of newcastle. There is no clear way through, even central motorway up and down thru haymarket lands at a bottleneck.

Getting rid of 3 bus stations ( Marlborough crescent , Warwick street and Newgate street ) and expecting all these services to cram into 1 bus station was always asking for trouble. Add into that fact the bottlenecks at John Dobson street / new bridge street, Blackett street, the gate and central station / centre for life, Newcastle is going to be a complete headache for years to come and I for one would hate to have to try and reroute buses around these problem areas.
It all goes to show that Newcastle and Tyne & Wear generally need better bus priority measures. I find the "chicanes" and uncontrolled pedestrian crossings in the city centre and "No Car" rather than "Buses Only" lanes particularly unacceptable and detrimental to buses.
