The remaining Scania's have to stay until June 2019 now, although a few outstanding withdrawal's have yet to take place, for the remaining Euro 4 Scania's, although they're likely to be withdrawn once the new Solo's arrive in June for the Durham cathedral bus and the Chester local services, as the current temporary allocations will be removed.

I was having a bit of small talk with an Angel21 driver today when boarding at Eldon Sq bus station and asked if he knew the destination still said Newcastle, rather than Chester-Le-St or Durham. He said he knew but it's supposed to change itself, and that if it didn't he'd change it manually in a minute.
Have the Angel Streetdecks had this feature all along or is it a recent upgrade?

A slight pet peeve of mine is the destinations being changed to Chester-Le-St or Durham on Newcastle bound services that haven't yet announced 'Next stop, Eldon Sq', or in some cases even before Blackett St has been announced/reached. I always presumed it was the drivers changing the destination screen for the return journey too early. Do you think thats probably the case, or has the automatic system been randomly changing it too soon sometimes?

No such feature in place on any Go North East bus at Chester-le-Street. The only buses which have that enabled are the indiGo Solos at Washington on 81/2/3/4.

Don't know why the driver would suggest any different - odd they'd know about it at all really, given it was previously trialled at Riverside.

(11 May 2018, 6:13 am)Michael On the busnortheast Facebook page, someone called Finlay Whelan post

"This is being replaced with one of the 12 metre OmniDekka’s due up from Brighton & Hove I believe"

"There are 3 currently WD. 907/8/15 and they are apparently being prepped to be sent up to GNE (well what I’ve heard from fitters). All of the 12M OmniDekka’s are apparently going to GNE because they aren’t wanted in Brighton due to their size and awkwardness on 99% of Brighton routes"

Not sure how true but thought i would share.

The 12m ones (looks like 901-918 are all 12M), could replace the current Omnidekka's so they can move to in to the special service fleet to remove some/all of the Vykings and the last few presidents from active service.

You have to turn the engine off and the passenger lights then cut out rather soon after -- dark bus or idle engine that's doing next to nothing (all modern engines operate extremely efficiently at idle.. since they're well... idle, so there is not really an argument for turning them off anymore). Euro 6 engines definitely don't need to cut engines out.

I'd assume they're doing what happens with most of the buses. If a bus has been idling for a few minutes, RIBAS will cut the bus off, unless you put your foot down.

4899's MOT expires on 25/05/2018.

3819's MOT expired on 11/05/2018 - possible reason for the mix-up.

Ah thanks, I remember Andrew's photo said 13th May. They were quick to replace it however, replaced by a decker after a small handful of runs.

Pretty sure 'idle' is one of the functions the RIBAS monitors.

Big Brothers fault they have to rev every so often.

I wonder what the new MD can do up here, reading buses is completely different to GNE, do you think the new MD will bring concepts like the flat fare areas and the more simplistic branding?
