Would have to be MMCs if ordering new unless any companies in the Go Ahead group have any classic E400s?

I can't see Omnicitites going on the 9, Deptford have never had Omnicities (expect for the 1 on demo for the 35? when branding first started), so can't see them getting them now due to Depot standardisation etc, if anything the 9 would get new or cascaded Streetlites, as Deptford already have 48 of them.

Citaro's from the 9 would replace the Scania's on the 35, further depot standardisation

I would like to see the Volvo 7900 and the Volvo B8RLE in the Go North East fleet in the future.

I think the Q1/Q2 and Q3 would get the same kind of buses.

22 - Wright Streetdeck Micro-Hybrid 3's - Prince Bishops

I have used the 20 quite a few times so far this year whilst out and about with a mix of journey's coming in and out of Sunderland with some quite high loadings with standees on each of those journey's at various times of the day, this is as a result of students using the service at both Bede and City Campus along with your average Tom, Dick and Harry using the service.

I do think the Streetlites which put into service in 2016 have brought some much needed growth to the 20's which I do think would benefit from having deckers during the peak periods of the morning and afternoon.

I might have mentioned this before, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the 20 and 35 swap over and the 35 head back to Shields before any purchase of new vehicles for the 20.
It's a huge investment to replace the PVR for the route and I would struggle to see the business case succeed.
35 will need new/newer vehicles soon and I'm struggling to see where they will come from in its current guise.
It's almost become a neglected route.

20/20A - reduced PVR: Durham - North Sunderland Estates/Boldon.

35 - increased PVR (using cascaded Streetlites): Low Moorsley - South Shields.

With a reduced PVR, the 20 then sees new vehicles and the financial viability on the 35 starts to improve (the newer, more wallet friendly Streetlites aiding its cause).

Whether this happens this or next year, I'm not sure.

Yup, it went from Citaro's to a mixed allocation of Citaro and Scania, to Citaro and now Scania...... i don't see where newer buses will come from when the Scania's get withdrawn, and its not a route i think would get new buses....

Wouldn't mind Omnicities on the route though...

Wonder when the next set of the new buses will arrive? (not including the Sunderland Connect Solo's and Coaches)

It's been a while since we've last had some activity in this thread...

Go North East MD Martijn Gilbert was the guest speaker at a group meeting of the Northern Group Enthusiasts Club yesterday evening. During the talk, Martijn confirmed that Go North East have placed an order for 44 new vehicles this year (33 double-deck and 11 single-deck).

With this extra detail now in our hands, does anyone want to have another guess at which vehicles may have been ordered, and for which services?

I would think ADL 400MMC for the double deckers. Judging by loadings on the 16s i’m speculating that some workings require extra capacity. If this being the case I would think the displaced streetlites might get rid of the final Omnicities from Consett.
