(16 Feb 2020, 11:48 pm)streetdeckfan I wonder if we'll see an order for more single deckers soon, there's been a lot of deckers ordered recently but not many singles.
Dont forget the DDs replaced the single decks, so although no singles were ordered, we've seen (going to see) all the L94 withdrawn along with omnis and maybe few citaros....not forgetting the solos

That is true, they seem to alternate between buying singles and doubles, and it wasn't that long ago that they bought a large number of StreetLites so I suppose it is the turn of the deckers!

I think Dan said on the Facebook live that the Omnicities can get a Euro 6 upgrade so there will probably last longer than the Citaros

Yes for the ones at chester as they run services into newcastle. Nothing stopping them being distributed to other depots on services that don't go to newcastle.

I'd imagine the 3 a PM will be displaced

Are all omnis getting done or the ones just in corp? Didnt think Washington ones would be done as 99% of the time on services that do not enter Newcastle...

These are the only OmniCitys planned to be converted to Euro 6 for the time being. The OmniCitys are now 13 years old, and the funding allocated means that these buses will have to stay in the fleet for another three years (approx) based on vehicle mileage, remaining on the same route unless they're replaced with newer vehicles of the same Euro 6 emission standard.

As has been mentioned previously, with the current rate of investment, it's likely a large number of Scania OmniCity, and indeed a handful of Citaro, will be withdrawn this year.

This one is a joint initiative between Go North East and South Tyneside Council. It's important that operators don't completely forget about other operating areas besides Newcastle, just because they aren't going to have a clean air zone (for the time being).

In other Washington news, the indiGo fleet has (finally) started to be updated in the new style, as shown in the photo below.

Vinyls removed from windows, the little 'indiGo' line vinyls have all been stripped from the bodywork, the cant rail has been vinyled over in black with a more generic message to future-proof against any potential future fleet movements, and a 'fares strip' added to the sun visor (there'll be a number of different variations).

Gutted about the Citaro's, is it the way to the back of the bus is set, hence the reason why they can't be upgraded to euro 6?

I liked the idea of having those multicoloured lines on side of the bus, looks plain now.

Could send some of the Citaros down to East Yorkshire for a few years to replace their older E300's which sounded horrible when I was down Hull last Monday, could also replace their older B7RLE's and Plaxton Centros as I'm sure despite them having a refurb less than 3 years ago they'd still hold a good book value.

Then withdraw the Bluestar examples.

No, you’d need to replace the indiGo logo to do this and it’d look pretty naff having roadstripes separating the same colour.
