I've posted this elsewhere, but thought it worth posting in the correct thread too.

I like gricing, like nice food, like nice beers and like nice country pubs.
The Esk Valley offers all of those things, but just not in the most convenient joined up fashion.

So...

If anyone can work out how to do the pubs along the Esk Valley line from Lealholme or further inland if it helps, out towards the coast (finishing in Whitby) and tie it in with train and/or bus and maybe a little of shanks pony, feel free to drop me a line.

My head is battered.

Getting to the start point and back from Whitby isn't an issue.
The is issue is getting to Whitby via a pub or several and using train and/or bus through the Esk Valley.

Hoping for some Lothian advice if anyone can help.

Taking the in-laws for a few days in Edinburgh in the year and I'm planning on a mini bus bash whilst I sneak off to park the car. I'm thinking of parking somewhere south east of the city and bussing it in. Is there a specific East Coast route the Eclipse 3s are allocated to?

I tend to park at Wallyford Park & Ride - really big site, doesn't tend to get too busy, and not far away from Edinburgh on the bus.

X5 and X7 good shouts for the Volvo B8RLEs - they were on the 124 too but these have recently received the B5TL deckers and the B8RLEs cascaded to the 106.

Thanks for your help. Don't suppose you've used Wallyford for overnight parking? Edinburgh Council's website lists the site but refers to East Lothian for overnight permissions. East Lothian seem to have copied the text from Edinburgh's page, thus telling me to refer to itself to find out if I can park overnight.

Right.

Using the bus over two consecutive days soon.

One day will be entirely in the red zone.

One day I will need to use a combination of GNE and ANE (the ANE route isn't within T&W).

It is looking like I will need to buy a red zone ticket one day (despite it being a 30min ride on one bus there and a 30min ride on one bus back) and an Explorer ticket the other.
It isn't viable to buy a 24 hour GNE ticket, due to the GNE/ANE combination.

I flew to Morocco for £30, but I'm not going to get much change out of £20 for the sake of travelling on two consecutive days with two operators.

Am I missing something obvious here or is it going to be an expensive two days?

I presume you won't have the use of a car? Because personally I'd just drive (depending on distance, £10 would get me a 100 miles round trip) on the second day, as I can't really see any alternative to using an Explorer.

Beer gardens innit?
Got the car and that Costco Premium Diesel pays for itself.
But I've spent the best part of a year sitting in the house and want to socialise a bit now the pubs are open.

Quick question regarding the metro.

Daily cap vs day ticket? £2.75 vs £3.30.

Now what I don't understand is how a daily cap costs less than a day ticket?

Is it not an incentive to use the Pop card over a paper ticket?

Yes - although some drivers may be slightly taken aback given how few they’ll sell.

It's that simplified, there doesn't seem to be any information on single ticket prices.

I found something from last summer (https://www.gonortheast.co.uk/summer-saving-fares), but have no idea if it still applies or not.
Any ideas?
