(23 May 2020, 10:15 pm)Michael No probs thanks.Still planned but not from 01/06.
Wonder if they'll go ahead with moving the 78 to Consett.
Maybe an admin wants to move these posts to the "Rumoured May changes" thread

(23 May 2020, 9:48 am)Dan They aren’t running - back to normal in that there are some early morning journeys operated by Go North East and then evening/Sunday by Gateshead Central Taxis. Thanks Dan, I'd been wondering about the 135/136 daytime as the timetable showing them is still available under the "Nexus contract changes from 17th May" link on the website. I assume that they ceased from 17th May.
This reflects the impending ramp up of service levels.

(24 May 2020, 6:13 pm)Michael Interesting move, but not surprised.
Wonder if the new 61 would be diverted via part of the 38 route? - would imagine that, the 61 would be allocated Citaro's from the 9, with both routes stopping every 20 minutes.
---------------
Edit:
If the 9 and 61 is getting split, for some reason, i'm expecting at least one other route getting spilt, something like the 20, so it would be: Durham to Sunderland then renumbered for the Sunderland to South Shields section.

(24 May 2020, 6:43 pm)6049 I'm clueless about the Nexus rota at Deptford so can't comment. Only know about the 9 & 61, 20 is unchanged as far as I'm aware apart from frequency.

I have a suggestion for the 2/2A/38 & 39
2/2A - Sunderland City Centre - Ashbrooke - Leechmere - Hollycarrside - Esdale Estate - Tunstall Bank Estate - Silksworth - Doxford International - Doxford Park Morrisons - Ryhope - Grangetown - Sunderland City Centre - Sunderland University - Royal Hospital - Chester Road - Pennywell - Prestbury Road - Hastings Hill - Penshaw - Shiney Row - Barnwell (2A) - Fatfield - Biddick (2A) - Harraton (2) - Lambton (2) - Washington Galleries
Merging of services 2/2A/38 & 39 - Operating Monday to Saturday up to Every 10 Minutes and Every 20 Minutes on Sunday
Service would operate a clockwise/anti clockwise loop between Sunderland City Centre and Doxford International and again as they do currently between Fatfield and Washington Galleries whilst also opening new links around Pennywell to Washington and areas currently served by the 38 to Doxford International.

(24 May 2020, 8:35 pm)Michael That's 1 long route - although a good idea for the route - i think it would work... any idea of the PVR? - there's currently 16 "Black Cat" branded Streetlites. It is but I post covid 19 it would be more beneficial for GNE to merge services together that overlap as at the minute a few of these services don't make that much money which is they let they evening journeys go to GCT as they were not sustainable to operate commercially, this would counteract that and more than likely reduce operating costs also.

This is just one example, there are countless amounts of examples where this could work across other services on the GNE network.

(24 May 2020, 8:27 pm)Malarkey I have a suggestion for the 2/2A/38 & 39Post Covid 19, when traffic builds up, there might be some problems with reliability with such a long route, so might need more stand time at the interchange, but does seem like a reasonable suggestion to keep operating commercially especially during evenings to prevent GCT from grabbing them!

(24 May 2020, 11:12 pm)Michael I agree, its always worth a shot, even if on a night, least they would get the 39 back (along in a different form)Yeah I forgot to note that bit of having them split on Pennywell/Chester Road.
I've forgot what the normal timetables were, its been that long ago since a normal service....
Edit:
Only thing i would change is the Chester Road - Pennywell - Prestbury Road - Hastings Hill section
Maybe have 2 go its current route and the 2A via Pennywell?, least then it keeps the Broadway and Grindon Mill section with a bus to Washington.
