(05 Jan 2015, 4:25 pm)MarcTheA4 Thought that might have been the case! lol

Bit steep! I think I might try and contact Jim Hughes or Kingsley's too.

As I said before, Stanley Travel provide some of the most expensive quotes.

I'd have expected that the total cost would not exceed £2.00 per mile, but Stanley Travel's quote does:
£420 / 150 miles = £2.80/mile.

In my opinion, you ought to be aiming for a quote of £300 or less, which equates to £20/person (assuming there are 15 people going).

That's what I was thinking as well, £20 per person would be a nice round number.

Could probably get my mam and grandma to do the food as well! Big Grin

I'll contact some of the other suggested operators at some point tonight.

Already have! Wink

On another note, I've checked the trainline - and the prices aren't bad.

The 09:00 East Coast (will be different when we travel) leaving Newcastle, get off at Doncaster at 10:24. Swap onto the 10:42 Northern service to Hull, arriving 11:47 going down. Unsure coming back up.

Put 7 adults and 2 children in on a random Saturday (just random)...off peak return for 9 people is £483.75....not even 15!

However, I have noticed a Standard single for that party of 9 would be £112.50, hoping it's the same coming back...we may be onto a winner here! Smile

Even cheaper if any of the adults going down, invest (or already have) a family and friends railcard.

1/3 off adult fares
50% off kids.

Maybe worth checking the same journeys, but selecting the railcard option.

Been doing a bit more planning for that possible trip...would anyone happen to know which bus would operate between Hull Interchange and the Streetlife Museum?

I imagine there might even been a shuttle bus?

Thanks!

By the way, I know you have spent quite a bit of time planning, but have you asked your parents if you can go?

Not too sure if the link will work, but there seems to be a fair few buses which stop within a 5 minute walk of the museum, operated by Stagecoach & EYMS.

Haha, yeah I'll be attending Big Bus Day regardless of whether I go down with my parents or the trip goes ahead, but seeing as it's in the early stages, unsure on numbers, etc, I think it will be quite a while before any serious planning gets taken up. Smile

I'm doing a week in New York in October, London for a weekend at some point during the summer, and Grasmere on a long weekend. Smile

Renting a cottage on the highlands of Scotland for a couple of days at some point too.

I'm planning a couple of solo trips into EYMS territory, maybe a 21 to Durham, an X12 to Middlesbrough, maybe sample the X93 to see if it's improved at all, then the 843 to York, before a train back up?

That sounds good!

Will give you the opportunity to try out Max on the X93 with the B9's.
You could even get a bus into Leeds and the train back from Leeds.

Yes I think the 843 continues on to Leeds, but I don't think I could last that long on a single bus, the X93 earlier on in the day would probably put me off for a week!

The 843 does continue onto Leeds but even to York you're going to be on a bus for a long time. The X12 and X93 are both reasonably long too. I wouldnt be able to do what you're planning myself.

Two hours thirteen mins on the X93! Something like one hour forty five on the 843. I wouldn't mind that though, as it is a new operator (think it might be Transdev?) and apparently the route is pretty scenic.

I've heard EYMS' X46/X47 between York and Hull is quite a beautiful run, and it's two hours exactly.

You could do Scarborough and Middlesbrough etc. one day, and York/Hull another?
Using train and bus.

I believe the Coastliner routes have always been traded as Transdev Yorkshire Coastliner (or they have everytime i have been down to Scarborough).
