Just a suggestion (not sure if it will work) but maybe for Blyth to fully allocate deckers to the expresses Blyth could do:
1497 Blyth to Belmont with either a DB250 or one of the Ex Jesmond B7s heading the other direction
1493/1501-05 Blyth to Belmont with 7416/19-23/27 going the other direction. This would allow the Expresses to be fully allocated B7s and VDL Deckers.

So, to make Blyth all double deckers (which it doesn't need to be), you would remove double deckers from the X46 in Durham - which definitely need them?

Huh

If they we're going to upgrade all the buses at Blyth to deckers, it wouldn't surprise me to see Gemini's come up from London when they start to get replaced by newer buses in the next few years. Could send some to Jesmond for the 306 aswell and to replace the B7TL's there. Then send the Pulsars displaced at Jesmond and Blyth to Darlington to see off the Scania's down there if there's no investment up here.

I think Blyth would rather use an MPD on their express work than take one of those DB250s, they've been shot for about 3 years now.

Equally not every Blyth board needs a decker, the X7/8/9 certainly have a number of boards which cope fine with a Pulsar. Not to mention the Pulsars can be extremely useful for the 1/2 on occasion.

I'd rather have a decent B7 over one of the Pulsars anyday, they've been totally ruined by the econospeed device not being installed properly in them.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, the Blyth pulsars are awful, not only are they ruined by the econospeed but seems like they're quite rattly, on my shopping trip yesterday 1497 was rattling itself to bits yet on my return a 15 year old B7 done the same section of route didn't rattle once. I  1493 is also quite rattly.
