(02 Sep 2013, 7:25 pm)BJ10VUS You can get good stuff at rallies occasionally - bargain too!

Got a few more of my models from rallies.

I haven't bought a model for a while.

Apart from the NBFL which I *really* wanted, I've never spent more than £10 on any model. I tend to just browse eBay, as I look out for GNE or Tyne and Wear PTE models - although I did buy the two Busways models too.

I have no interest in models really, though I do have a few from when I was a child and family members gave me them - alongside cars and the like too.

How much was the NBFL model? Despite having no interest in them, the prices always intrigue me.

It was RRP for £34.99, but I ended up getting it for £27.99. It pained me to pay that much though.

I think the most I paid was £8 for a First Bath 'Orange Bus' Bendy - this was about 5 years ago at Whitley Bay Rally.

Ooof...

Y'could have two trips down to London on Megabus Wednesdays for that cost to have a ride and take photos of 'em! :L

The prices of "rare" models always seems so high, and it baffles me that some pay such prices for them. £75 for the Spectra above... Fair enough, only 200 will be made - but what is going to stop another company making them and selling them for a lower price?

I'm trying to think of things I would rather do less than a Megabus journey to London Tongue not having much luck! I take the point though, and it was a one off for me.

The £75 for the Spectre is insane. There's a Stagecoach Enviro 400 Hybrid model that's a similar price I think Looking at the world of Hornby too, and you're paying upwards of £100 for a loco. Just done a quick search and they want £110 as a 'discount' price for the new Class 91 model. You could practically buy the land and build a branch line for the same price as constructing a Hornby set.

There is another brand new Go North East bus coming out. This time, it's an EFE model of a Leyland National on service 723. The bus in question is 4701 (FTN 701W). It's expected to be released this month.

Your prayers have been answered Aureolin, there is now a Gemini 2 Model that'll be available in the UK, Instead of just China. It'll be released between January and June of 2014 and thus far it'll be available in Metroline and Brighton and Hove Livery, also there some more pulsar 2 models to be released also. And of course another NB4L Model Metroline. Looking like a great year for Model Buses.

Just in case people weren't aware, there was/is a model version of a Solar in The Ok Expressway livery with a choice of destination screen (choices were/are OK1 Crook or OK1 Darlington). I personally received one for Christmas as there are plenty on eBay. Might be quite a nice addition to a collection considering the service and brand has now been withdrawn.

I noticed there's a Northern General routemaster also out to celebrate the centenary. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned anywhere earlier.

EFE announced their latest future models today and included in them are 3 local ones; a Gateshead & District Alexander Atlantean, a GNE Northern SPD and a Northern Harrington Cavalier.

http://www.britishmodelbuses.com/News_Fe...202014.htm

Out of curiosity, does anyone know where the old Gateshead 7 went to? Obviously Fawdon was the terminus on the Newcastle side of the river, but where was the terminus on the Gateshead side?

It used to terminate at Springwell Estate.

Here's a timetable of the service circa 1971:
