(09 Jun 2021, 5:24 pm)streetdeckfan The main issue with Hydrogen is the infrastructure required, even more so than going BEV.I agree, much better suited to long routes like Xlines or angel etc. Electric for shorter local routes. They just need battery technology to advance a bit more. However the metals required are so rare to produce these batteries, hydrogen is the only current long sustainable power source
I'm guessing if they go Hydrogen they'd have to build their own generation plant as I don't believe there is anywhere local to supply it, although I could be mistaken on that.
I do think that for a lot of GNE's routes Hydrogen would probably be the better of the electric options due to it's higher energy density enabling a longer range, although that could all change depending on how much change we see in battery technology.
