(15 Jan 2022, 9:08 pm)peter Rather a rusty pride than no pride at all! Could it not have been repainted into a similar or updated version of the livery as a result?

In fairness to GNE, UK pride is due to be held in Newcastle this year (delayed since 2020 I believe) and perhaps we will see a new pride livery to coincide with this...it's just a shame to have seen the current one go in the meantime.

Yes, we’ll see an improved version of the Pride livery launched this year.

Disagree with the comment that a rusty pride is better than no pride at all. When in the condition it was in, 5292 did the cause absolutely no justice.

A comparison was drawn to 6086, which, by comparison, still looks to be in very good condition. That is the difference! No reason for this to be repainted out of the livery.

Will 6086 (even if kept in Poppy Livery) be transferred and internally refurbished to form the TVT PVR increase or will it just be one of 6001/49/50?

Glad to hear it!

My comment about a rusty pride was in jest, perfectly understandable to repaint it given its condition. At face value, 5292 appeared to be repainted into Sunderland District just to fit in with the re-brand rather than for that reason, as it could equally have been repainted back into its pride livery, hence my questioning as to why 6086's would be retained if required for the Tyne Valley 10 rebrand. But the introduction of a new pride bus this year makes sense.

If 6086 leaves Deptford..then with the school routes + 56 they have lost a spare. Which means they have 1 spare (6087 [i think]) + Plaxton President for 5025 and it seems that 4274 has been running duplicates all week. So really their are no spares anymore.

You would hope if 6086 does leave Deptford they'd acquire another spare, whether it will or not remains to be seen. Now it's been confirmed it's unlikely to go into Tyne Valley 10 livery it'll be interesting to see if they bother repainting another bus or just have one of the other spares make up the PVR

IK 6942 is meant to be withdrawn (euro 5) when one of the G1's come back (euro 4) how does that really make any sense.

Also if 6086 goes and Deptford doesn't get atleast 2 more euro 6 spares you'll start to see Sunderland Connect Solo's on the route.

6942 and 7157 were replaced on the 4274 by Euro 6 coaches 7130 and 7132.

The 5025 is supposed to be allocated 3943 but this is long-term VOR at Thorntons. 3965 should be transferring across to Deptford on loan from Riverside to provide cover for 3943, at which point 6942 will be withdrawn.

Service 56 will retain two spare Euro 6 buses, 6086 and 6087.

I hope 6942 can be in some commercial routes before it goes would be nice.

Also are there any plans to upgrade any G1's, or both Voyager Omnidekka's (euro 4) and Geminis (euro 5) to Euro6. Because where will all the omnidekkas, Geminis, G1's go when the CAZ is introduced.

6942 has been used on the 4274 this week in place of 7132 which required attention at Volvo.

6942 can no longer be used on the 5025 as it doesn't have enough seats so can be only used on the 4274 school runs.

It is worth noting that the 4274B contract has another run after the main school run where it runs the late bus covering all other routes from the school (7 routes in total).

Eminox offer their Eminox SCRT for Volvo B7TL's so no reason why they could not be upgraded if said vehicles were going to be used on Services which run into Newcastle which right now isn't the case.

The B7TL Gemini's are all allocated between Chester-Le-Street and Deptford given their current Euro rating and I don't think this is going to change either, it would be more likely to see the Ex Lothian B9's upgraded despite only being a year or 2 older than the latter.

Magtec offer a EV Repower Package on the Scania N94UD chassis but why would you do this on vehicles are 17 to 19 years old, it doesn't make any business sense to me to do this as it will only have a short term benefit. On the other hand lets says we were doing with the Volvo B9TL Wright Gemini's or Wright Streetlites in the fleet then I don't have an issue with it as these vehicles are likely to be in fleet for a further 8 years depending on what upcoming investment and grants for EV Vehicles looks like.

You can view the following link below to see what companies offer modifications and to which vehicle types.

It's an 18 year old bus though. Fitting SCRT modifications comes at a cost, and at some point you've got to question the economic viability of spending money on a vehicle of that age.

Going back to the "Pride" Liveries, the yellow based version by GNE on the Versa and Citaro were awful in my opinon compared to efforts made elsewhere by other operators (though you never see a Stagecoach Pride bus). Where as 6050 was more up to the standard of Pride Livery found elsewhere in the country even though it was a throwback to judge a bus by the colour scheme from the 80s.

What was worse was that the Versa and Citaro paint faded badly, especially the vynals and the yellow paint. To be honest the livery carried by the Connector Shuttle Citaros looked a better pride livery even though it wasn't intended as a pride livery. Plus the fact that the pride rainbow has been diluted by it's use to celebrate the Key Workers during the lockdowns etc.
