(24 Oct 2021, 11:27 am)Keeiajs I wonder if GNE drivers would ever do anything like this, but in Japan the drivers were striking and they drove all their routes but just let all passengers on for free and not accept any money wouldn't this be a better thing to do than strike and possible create services to every 30-60 mins.

The better thing to do would be to avert strike action by listening to your colleagues and offering the pay/conditions that they deserve.

Yeah...but I doubt that is going to happen without some sort of strike action.

Free (or very low flat rate) services are usually provided during strikes anyway. Having drivers not taking money isn't as much of a headache to the company as major disruption, customers buying cars, increased traffic congestion, newspaper articles, lower staff morale and less respect from the public... that's why strikes are done the way they are - the company has more to lose than just fares.

WEll if all the drivers operated at normal, just didn't take money there would be no disruption except GNE lose money.

But disruption is the whole point of a strike. As I've said, letting people on for free and running services as normal isn't going to bring the company into disrepute - it would actually be positive for the bus company from a perception point of view...
