(22 Sep 2022, 5:05 pm)Retro Nero GNE similar.... Example only
Sign on 0650
Leave Depot @ 0700 light running to Concord to commence 56 to Sunderland
56 to Newcastle then back to Sunderland
Break 1115
Relieve Service 60 @ 1155
Relieved @ 1440
Passenger on Staff shuttle to depot pay in and clock off....
The 56 normally is Drive to Newcastle and Back, however when the evening trips just terminate at Concord its the same driver.
I'd imagine most drivers on the 60 do 3 as that comes in just below the 5 hours.

I suppose one trips (similar to old 20 duties from Sunderland to Shields to Sunderland) were to make up driving hours.

I think I saw one the other day (not keeping up too much but it was a G1 with a registration beginning MX07) - it was going towards Doxford with "X20 Sunderland via Arnison Centre" on the front. Has that destination just been left there or does it not have the new ones?

There was indeed. Believe it was 6186.

Whilst 3 Angel branded streetdecks sat parked up at Gateshead Interchange which is now challenging heaven in the most amount of angels sitting around stakes.

I have noticed a lot of new drivers on the Angel lately and none of them seem to know the stop names (or passengers names for them) though it’s not helping when halfway through a run my CLS bound chariot is told he’s now going to Durham…

Wistfully stuck in the 90s

To be fair, there are about 1,000 stops on the Angel, most of which are just random street names in places they've probably never been before!
Then, like you say there are passengers names for stops, of which 99% of them will be names for pubs that closed 40 years ago

Very few, hence the new faces.

Most went to Washington, which is why additional work (25, 28/29, 58) transferred here.

Is there a reason the X21 wasn't transferred to Washington with the drivers?

Efficiency and cost. It's more efficient to run the X21 from Riverside (with reliefs at Gateshead).

The remote reliefs are presumably factored into the tender price of the 25 and 28/29, and the 58 is a short-term thing (will eventually return to Riverside) until the staffing situation improves at Riverside.

One thing that annoys me is that 21/X21 change when coming back from newcastle southbound.

Why not just do it when its heading to newcaslte then they don't really need to waist time putting their code in, another thing is changing drivers going to Newcastle imo is better from a passenger perspective rather than waiting for two 21's then they just say Gateshead on the Display seems a bit pointless. Same for the 20, they now change drivers at Stand L, whereas if they changed from Stand E?, they could just but their code in when in Park Lane, instead of the driver having to put his code in for the 5 min journey between Stand E & Stand L.

As Storkx (sorry if I got the name wrong) said I wouldn't want to drive down the A1 daily to work, especially with all the traffic.

Does anyone know the Rota pattern for Gateshead now?

21 and X21 are on their own rota (silver) with reliefs taking place at Gateshead Metro. 10 and 12 are also on their own rota (red) with reliefs at the Metrocentre. 53/54/Q3 are their own rota. Everything else which is operated from Gateshead Metro is on the main rota (green). Then you have miscellaneous duties such as splits which cover scholars and workers contracts.

You realise drivers would have to log in to Ticketer northbound too, don't you?

People may want to catch the bus at Gateshead, so they'll need to be logged in for that alone. Aside from that, important messages are often communicated on Ticketer which could be essential to read ahead of that section of the journey. It's really not a long process to log into Ticketer, and if a driver is slow at it they're not going to get quicker on the other side of the road.

In my experience they normally don't change drivers till after that.  While I get it might not be quicker at the other side of the road, its better than the 21 going into newcastle to only go to Gateshead then go NIS
