(09 Feb 2022, 4:10 pm)MurdnunoC It's a bittersweet announcement.

Everybody will have to find another stick to beat GNE with now. At least Uncle Ray is still doing copy and paste liveries for them. There's one thing at least...
Nah, there's still plenty of sticks for people to beat them with.

(09 Feb 2022, 5:47 pm)stagecoachbusdepot Looks like the 21 is reverting to it’s normal frequency but the X1 and 20 both appear to be sticking at their reduced frequency of 15 mins introduced on a ‘temporary’ basis in Sept and Oct respectively.  Are these now permanent reductions?
There is no X22 either, which I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t come back in it’s previous form

What is the point of bringing back the evening 311 journeys if they're going to potentially be axed come March?

They still have obligations to run a certain amount of mileage in order to qualify for BRG

Saying that, it would be wise to add a small number of short 310 journeys to Hadrian Park post match on NUFC weekday match nights.

They ran duplicates on Tuesday night after the Everton game. There was a 309 which departed around 21:50, and there was an extra 310 too.

Looking at Bustimes, it appears so. Looks like you were proven right last week as it appears they've conceaded that deckers are needed on this route. Have you ever thought about applying for a job at GNE?

The X1 looks to have been nothing short than an unmitigated disaster today.

n.b. I've marked several Newcastle-bound trips with a *, as the trip is often changed at John Dobson Street so doesn't reflect the real time it reached it's destination.
  • The last Newcastle-bound trip from Easington Lane was also cancelled via Social Media, with no alternative provided or posted.
  • The 21.00 from Newcastle was announced as cancelled from Washington Galleries (at 21.30) on Social Media due to a breakdown, but appears to have had a miraculous recovery and arrived in Easington Lane 38 late, before running light to Newcastle to do the 23.00 to Easington Lane...

I feel sorry for those who have been put on the front line trying to run these to a timetable today.

If this is what 'BETTER than ever' looks like, then I can't see it convincing many people that the bus is the correct mode of transport for their journey. No matter what the Twitterati might tell us.

The only potential that I could see, is that there are some gas works going on around Springwell Village. I did however compare with a sample of 56s, as Google traffic wasn't showing it as an issue earlier, and they seemed to be making it through fine.

I had the same thought - not a good day to persuade drivers to come in on their day off!

As tens of thousands of Sunderland fans head to Wembley this Saturday (21 May) for the League One Play-Off Final, Go North East is expecting to carry considerably lower numbers of passengers across Wearside.

This excuse?

Makes my imaginary PR release about sledges and car sharing in another thread look even more genuine than I anticipated!

Runs with the theme, there's nothing wrong with GNE, it's always someone else's fault. Similar with Covid being the main cause for less people using their buses, totally nothing to do with the fact half the buses aren't running.
