So with the new COVID rules where people don't have to self isolate from next week, does this mean GNE/SCE/ANE will not have any drivers self isloating if they test positive - surely this makes for. a more dangerous work enviroment

Its called living with COVID, rather than continually having restrictions. Now that most people are vaccinated then the risks of huge numbers of the population getting seriously ill from COVID are much reduced.

Also you are going to have to pay for tests, so guess what, people won't be testing unless their employer pays for the test so the only way that people will know whether they have got COVID is if they are unwell.

Now if someone is not feeling well, COVID will be treated just like another illness, if you are not fit to work you are off sick, but if you are fit to work then nothing is stopping you from working.

I imagine they'll probably still enforce the stay at home policy otherwise the unions will be on their case.

Also, I know from family in the TV and Film industry that a lot of places are still enforcing 2m social distancing and close contact bubbles despite that being dropped forever ago, as it's a condition of their insurance policy.

Guidance doesn't help people who can't afford to take time off without compensation, though.

Agreed. There's far too many people in work with no real entitlement to sick pay, other than SSP, which will revert back to the three day wait.

Some companies are ensuring there's no loss of pay to staff going forward, but others are doing nothing. I wonder what the state of play is like amongst transport operators, and whether they'll ensure it's full sick pay going forward?
