I wonder if anyone can remember when this started from? I can remember in the late 1970s my gran not being able to use her (then Tyne and Wear) concessionary pass on the "rush hour" on a late afternoon. I think it has always been that the pass couldn't be used before 9.30am but there was also a time when at a certain point on the afternoon they couldn't be used either. Can anyone remember what the afternoon times were when the pass couldn't be used and also what year it changed where passes could be used at any time after 9.30am?

4pm till 6pm wasnt it? You could by a " off peak" green network ticket that was alot cheaper than the blue all day one and you could only use it after 930 then not between 4 and 6. All day weekends and bank holidays

Also did everyone know that concessionary passes arnt valid on night services???

Yeah, 4pm till 6pm rings a bell, but I can't remember when that went out the window?

And yes, they're not valid after 11pm. It's been a while since I've been on a last bus, but I don't think the later time window is enforced.

Traveltickets were introduced in 1979, and the Off-Peak ticket in 1982. Couldn't be used before 0930 and between 1600 and 1800 Monday-Friday.

All the local authorities in the north east have discretionary arrangements with operators that allow ENCTS passes to be used after 11pm.
