Only one, X24 & X34 interworked with dedicated buses based at either South Shields or Wheatsheaf, no more light working evening X34, and X24s and X34s at 21.10/20, 22.10/20 & 23.10/20 from Newcastle

I agree. Definitely X24/X34 could interwork, esp at times when an hourly service would suffice. Interwork at Newcastle.

Also during the day especially busy periods if they interwork with extra time for journey they would ease reliability instead of both services having long layovers at times.

They did operate hourly one or two bank holidays before covid, but kept them separate with the inevitable at Newcastle with both being on stand

I'd suggest the 317&54 interwork on Sundays. They both go to Whitley Bay and would make a bit of sense

I agree with later evening services, and there should also be a Sunday service all year round on the x24/x34, not just the pre-christmas ones that they do.  Even if it was just once an hour during the main part of the day.  If they did interwork it would allow them to introduce this.

Don't see the point in interworking them personally. One uses singles and the other uses deckers so it wouldn't really work.

The X34 is a much busier route than the X24 and shouldn't be hourly during the day either to compensate for the poor X24.

I get your point, but the X24 is half hourly and it's a bit harsh to describe it as 'poor' I think, even if a gas bus can do fine on it.

Yes, I agree that "poor" is a bit strong to describe the x24's loadings. The x34 is definitely the busier of the two and does require double deckers, but the x24 does get full at certain times of the day.

The only 'Poor' aspect of the X24 is the abject lack of pro-action by Busways to promote the service. Especially now when their day tickets are considerably cheaper than the opposition, and the fact you can get just about anywhere in Newcastle on that ticket for free.
