A new addition to the fleet is Wright StreetLite MX61 BBU which was on service 79 today

Thought it was interesting that Jim Hughes had some deckers stored in Thirlwell's yard when I visited last year.

Wonder where Lowdons will keep their Van Hool coach now.

Lovely family owned firm Thirlwells, always welcoming when I ask to look round the yard. I first visited in about 1989.

Thursday, 16 April 2020 - No trains between Hebburn and South Shields
On Thursday 16 April no trains will run between Hebburn and South Shields to allow for track renewal work. During the work a replacement bus service, number 900 will be calling at or close to all stations in the affected area.

Please note there is a gap of 49 minutes between the first and second train to Hebburn, check train times before travelling.

Replacement bus stop location maps, bus and train timetables are below. Your journey will take longer so leave extra time for travel.

For help planning your journey call 0191 20 20 747 (open Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm).

It feels like they've been renewing the track for years now...

The closure is for the trackbed replacement on the Crossgate Viaduct in South Shields. The work will requires 450 tonnes of ballast, 650 sleepers and associated fixtures as well as drainage improvements.

I see JH Coaches has added ex-GNE 5209 to its fleet. I think there’s also an ex-Metroline President new to the fleet too. In both cases the buses are red rather than gold.
