Yorkshire Bus Operations
Drove the slow way home tonight, due to accidents on the A1, Bank Holiday traffic and fearing the worst with Leeds Festival traffic.
Just a few observations:
The variety of stuff operating the rail replacements between Selby and Hull. Quite a variety, ranging from Solo's to Coaches.
There were a few oddities in York, with branded EYMS stuff off route.
Saw the Gold Arriva Yorkshire decker for the first time too.
Stagecoach Manchester's loan to Sheffield's Holbrook depot increases this evening with the transfer of MAN 18.220/Alexander ALX300 22105/129 (S105/129 TRJ) today ready to operate the R1 (Castle Square, Angel Street - Granville Road Tram Stop).
For details on this service and the reason why it is operating, see: http://www.supertram.com/latestfromsupertram_8167.html
Not sure whether I have ever posted on here, but if you are a fan of the Red Arrows and you tine your journey right, the Stagecoach 103 from Scunthorpe to Lincoln, calls into RAF Scampton.
It doesn't go 'behind the wire', like the one at RAF Leeming - as the accommodation is behind, rather than inside.
Either way, a private display is still always possible.
Just need to stick with a Solar/Pulsar type vehicle for the duration!

EYMS didnt really think when desigining this seasons 120:X20 timetable. With it going into both Primrose Valley and Reighton Sands Holiday Villages the roads are narrow enough. Except the didnt really take this into account. A 120 heading towards Bridlington is due to leave the stop on Reighton Sands Holiday Village at xx:00 which is fine. However, the 120 heading towards Scarborough is timed to leave the same stop at xx:01. This means most of the time, they would have to pass eachother on the site or on the road down to the village where the road, to be honest, isnt much wider.
Also worth note. The 19:05pm 120 departure from Scarborough to Reighton Sands Holiday Village didnt terminate there at all in a week. I suspect it will terminate at somewhere like Primrose Valley Holiday Park which is the main holiday park of the 4 situated on the Scarborough/Filey section of the East Coast. There is also the element that the Summer holiday season is over and not many people are going to be in Scarborough until 19:00 at night anyway...especially if that is the last departure.
My last little nag at the 120:X20 is the reliability of the Volvo B9TL Enviro 400s. The total PVR of both services combined is 4. And they have 4 E400s despite only 2 being branded for the services. The only 2 that i can say that have seen daily usage over the past week have been 722 and 723. No sign of 724 and 725 at all with Volvo B7TL Geminis, Volvo B9TL Wright Gemini (1 and 2) and 3 times service 120 has seen a Volvo B7RLE Plaxton Centro allocated. Coming back from Filey last night, i saw 723 parked in a layby (which strangly wasnt even on the 120 route) being reoiled by the maintenance team and looked very sorry for itself.
Rant over.
Bit of info I've picked up from my EYMS handbook by Steven Knight Media;
I gather that due to a reduced school requirement, 10 vehicles have been delicenced. They are Olympians 619, 627, 632, 634, 635, 636, 637, 690 & 693. Dart SLF 471 has also been delicenced apparently.
Olympian 626, Mercedes O405s 285, 299 and 300, along with Excel 253 are registered for disposal, while B10BLE 309 and Dart SLF 163 are on loan to Whittles.
No idea if it has already been mentioned ( I keep forgetting to mention it), but Arriva Yorkshire have put cherished plates on Gemini's operating the 415.
Although not all have been given Max treatment, AO7 MAX (new livery, but no vinyls) and AO2 MAX (still in old livery) have been two plates, allocated to vehicles.
I imagine there are others, have yet to see them.

Is Leeds in Yorkshire?
Sorry I'm just really bad with counties and regions, etc., I think it's classed West Yorkshire!
Anyway, I never want to see another Enviro400 ever again. Must have counted about 40-50 in First colours, along with one or two B7TL Geminis and an ALX400.
Saw loads of Arriva stuff as well, although I must say Leeds seems very much like Newcastle - in the sense that certain areas are dominated by different operators.
Saw quite a bit of YorkshireTiger action too!
