It just came to me when my eldest was asking earlier on, about the amount of journeys I have taken by train (work or pleasure). I started trying to visually map these journeys and wondered if it was something that could be tied into others on here - to see what sort of pattern or trends emerged.

Would anyone else be up for this?
Obviously we would need to share the trips we have had (business or pleasure) and use a network rail map to illustrate the journeys.

Just to get started (I'll start North and work my way South), trying no to repeat journeys or mention return journeys.

There are definitely some patterns emerging here...

Hopefully a few more can add their journeys too

I keep adding this to my today's "to do list" and manage to forget daily.
I'll do mine whilst on the bus going to school or while I am indeed in school later.

I'll stick to my more memorable train journeys from this year alone - there would be far too many, otherwise!

* SUNDERLAND - HEWORTH
* SUNDERLAND - NEWCASTLE
* SUNDERLAND - METROCENTRE
* SUNDERLAND - HEXHAM
* SUNDERLAND - LONDON KINGS CROSS
* SUNDERLAND - YORK

* HARTLEPOOL - SUNDERLAND

* HEWORTH - SUNDERLAND
* HEWORTH - NEWCASTLE
* HEWORTH - METROCENTRE

* NEWCASTLE - SUNDERLAND
* NEWCASTLE - HEWORTH
* NEWCASTLE - CARLISLE
* NEWCASTLE - EDINBURGH WAVERLEY

* METROCENTRE - SUNDERLAND
* METROCENTRE - HEXHAM

* HEXHAM - NEWCASTLE
* HEXHAM - CARLISLE

* CARLISLE - DUMFRIES
* CARLISLE - HEXHAM
* CARLISLE - NEWCASTLE
* CARLISLE - LEEDS
* CARLISLE - PRESTON
* CARLISLE - LANCASTER
* CARLISLE - MANCHESTER (can't remember which station now!)
* CARLISLE - OXENHOLME

* OXENHOLME - WINDERMERE

* WINDERMERE - KENDAL

* KENDAL - OXENHOLME

* DUMFRIES - CARLISLE

* LEEDS - MANCHESTER

* PRESTON - WIGAN
* PRESTON - BLACKPOOL PLEASURE BEACH

Also had trips to Liverpool, Chester and Warrington around the same time as the above, but really can't remember the specific journeys now.

* LONDON VICTORIA - BRIGHTON

So many more... I imagine my train journeys will drastically reduce in number from next month though - the ticket price will soar from becoming an 'adult' from a 'child'.
I may have mentioned one or two return journeys above. A lot of the journeys have just been duplicated over time however - sometimes only travelling in one direction. I find that I often just use familiar trains rather than go on new ones..!

Love it. So much detail.

Obviously it will be out of date in a few weeks, but it may assist in the initial idea I had nearly two years ago!

Aside from the big brother concerns, I found the images from the 2016 pilot fascinating to look at.

Having travelled via King's Cross and Waterloo many times, it's interesting to see how they map usage between the two stations.

Amongst others, I've done the Euston walk and changed Northern Line trains at Euston and also got off at Vauxhall a couple of times, but much prefer the change at Bank.
