(12 Sep 2013, 7:34 pm)aureolin Washington is ran by Sunderland City Council, in a Newcastle postcode area, yet the 'city line' of your address is officially County Durham.

East Durham villages south of Peterlee(Wingate, Trimdon, Castle Eden, Station Town, Blackhall etc) have Teesside Postcodes, a Hartlepool Dial Code despite being Co. Durham

Houghton-le-Spring has a County Durham post code but its part of Sunderland, and Seaham and Peterlee has a Sunderland Postcode but there in County Durham area.

When the areas got changed, there never bothered changing the postcodes as it will confuse the postman lol.

Yeah, I forgot about my postcode(SR7) being in the Sunderland Postcode Area...

Although we are in different boroughs, do the post office not just stick to the boundaries of pre-1974 County Durham(North Bank of the Tees to the South Bank of The Tyne) which is why we see places have a postcode from a different local authority

Again, not sure whether this is true or not, so take it with a pinch of salt.

When a blue whale 'mates', it ejaculates 400 gallons of sperm.
Only 10% makes it into his 'partner'.

And you wondered why the sea tastes like it does....

There is a picture to accompany the email - but it is a tad graphic.
Google it if you must!

It was from when it was used in the Bus of Britain adverts with 19151. Sure at least one, if not both carried dark blue fleetnumbers above the doors and drivers cab.

I'm not going to pretend I knew this already, but I have just read that Kibblesworth was the location of a test tunnel for the Metropolitan Railway in London.
It was filled in, in the late 1800's.

I've Googled it and there are several comments about it, but all with the same vague detail.

Does anyone know any more about it or even where in Kibby the tunnel is?

Not a little known fact, but definitely an oddity.

There will be a generation of people who don't and won't know radio frequencies.
Whether it be because of DAB or something else.

95.4 FM
97.1 FM
97-99 FM

252 LW

1089 MW
1152 MW
1215 MW
909 MW

Almost ingrained in my memory.

Two-four-seven... Weather check!

Predates 1053 and 1089. They changed the frequencies and changed from wavelength to frequency on the late 70s. So there will be generation, not far behind, who won't remember radio 2 being on 1500m long wave, before it was given to R4.

Sigh. They had all the best pervs, back then.
