Does regular trips on the 21/X21 count? Especially as it serves a considerable chunk of the town.

In fairness, some parts of Peterlee look okay but some of the people you see lingering around the place does bring it's image down in my opinion, the bus station is certainly the least desirable part of the town, it isn't pretty looking and at times there is some characters hanging around there or at the job centre over the road.

And yet your optimistic view of Peterlee is unwavering based upon personal experience?

To be fair, I don't think there's anything in either South Tyneside or Peterlee which will hold much appeal to residents living in both areas.

South Tyneside ( Coastal Areas ) has a bit of appeal similar to Whitby, Fish and Chips and a Ice Cream from the local Minchella's Ice Cream Shop seams to attract a few from a far.
Though the Town Centre from a visitor point of view is a Hell Hole and I suggest not to use the MC Donald's across the road next to the bus station, They employ bouncers after 8pm....

Peterlee is a place I avoid, And if I was a visitor to the area id just go home!

If this said service existed, It would be the chav express.

Your proposed 29,could you not just leave the 16/16A the way it is and number your 29 the 17(from July obviously) so it would be 16/16A/17

Not though of that, good suggestion though, I just though that older residents of Lamesley and   Kibblesworth might've thought it was confusing

Id be tempted to reintroduce the 777 following the new focus on cross city longer routes.

Perhaps curtail it to start from Birtley to adapt the 82 route

Wistfully stuck in the 90s

South Tyneside Service Suggestions
5/50 5 Rivsed to run via Stanhope Road instead of South Tyneside Hopital
50 revised to run via Westoe instead of Chichester Road and serve Bolden Asda Main Stop then nonstop to Nissan then nonstop to concord normal service resumes after concord
Both 5/50 revised to run around Whitleas the same way the Stagecoach serives do this means we would get a bus every 15 minutes between South Shields and Bolden Asda
