It appears there has been a bit of an incident on the King Seaways last night off the Yorkshire Coast.

Just reading about it on bbc website.

A fire onboard and was forced to turn back to Port of Tyne, Police pinched 2, one for arson, one for affray...going by some news sites, someone had a crafty fag in a cabin and fell asleep...Quite scary by the sounds of it, a fire onboard is supposedly one of the worst nightmares for sailors...Hope the injured people who were airlifted are alright

It appears one of the people involved has a bit of a reputation in the Sunderland area.

The trial has started today in connection to the fire at Christmas.

Legal arguments seem to have caused a delay to proceedings.

The Princess Seaways seems to have had a little accident today.

Looking at the pictures, it has travelled a little distance towards the mouth of the river.

I nearly got thrown in the brig about 10 years ago on DFDS, think it was that ferry Big Grin

Apparently the Newcastle - Iijmuden route will see two new ferries.

The King Seaways and Princess Seaways will be replaced by the current Moby Wonder and Moby Aki.

The order was cancelled at the start of the pandemic.

Link won’t open for me but I believe there’s a plan for the king and princess to be refurbished.

No, it was cancelled around the time the Moby ships were due to be delivered for refit in Oct 2019.
Dfds were still wanting to resurrect the deal.

Genuinely surprised nothing has came of it at all to be honest, particularly as these two ships aren't far off 40 years old.

https://www.dfds-news.com/ferry/agreemen...cancelled/

But yeah, the link I shared, shows the artists images of what the new cabins will look like.

Ah - I had a tour of one of the ships recently, and their staff told me the order was a casualty of Covid!

Clearly not, based on the 2019 date!

The posting has been roved, could you say what the rumour was?

Ive just done the Mini cruise to Amsterdam on Process Seaways and it does seem to be pretty worn out, especially the two cabins I was in (I was moved from the first one due to noise issues from the adjacent lift).
