(25 May 2014, 7:12 pm)Dan Although I quite like those, I'm of the understanding that 5390's display is a white display as opposed to a full coloured LED display, showing white displays?

The current destination displays that are coloured only have the number part coloured too, so the destination display wouldn't be able to be 'coloured' white.

I'd imagine the cost of a full colour LED would be extortionate.

I imagine so! I know there's a Transdev group, "Mainline", using Mobitec blinds similar to my design. Then again... is it really worth it, considering most regular passengers fail to read most of the standard ones! Tongue

(25 May 2014, 7:10 pm)BJ10VUS Just a thought... with the introduction of the white display on the spare Versa, what if a new layout was introduced featuring route branding colours? Obviously my design won't work with all colours as effectively.

To have a full colour display rather than just the route number in colour is a lot more expensive. I understand that GNE will not be buying any colour route number blinds in the future anyway, they will either be amber or white (after the Versa trial), with a full destination on the rear rather than just a route number.

Thanks for clearing that up! Can I ask, what's with the Arial route numbers on the 56 and 58? Are these trials as well?

Sort of yes, just looking to see if using other fonts than the 'norm' look much different, sometimes we feel they look a bit too robotic. Cannot see all route numbers changing to Arial, but it is work in progress.

I quite like how it's displayed in white on the 56 - quite snazzy! Tongue

I've made some different designs of LED Displays, and I'm going to try some Colour RN/Full Colour blinds later and I'm wondering what is you favourite out of the options below:

Option 1:

Option 2:

What's the opinion on the trial so far? I personally prefer the white blinds, as they stand out more in the distance.

I like the design of the first one too!
That one was for the terminus of the 19 though - if it was scrolling it would just have Royal Quays, Cobalt etc.

Ah, makes sense... should have looked closer and I would have realised! Tongue

How did you make the third one? Is it on a 144x19 display, or 144x17?

Overall opinion is that the white blind does look better than the amber. We had only 1 complaint that in direct sunlight it was hard to see, but the amber ones are just as bad in certain conditions and when we put both buses together there was no difference. Would like to think that when the order goes in for this years new vehicles, white blinds all round will be on the list Smile

Mine only displays these fonts when in 144x19 mode... if I want to do the usual-looking scrolling font on the bottom row, I have to put the top row in to 10 pixels height rather than 9.

So do not fix anything and then super x should give you normal super x font which is what is on option 3 top row.

In sign config, make sure you have selected all fonts to use for that sign and also what size are you saying to use as the route number as sometimes that has an effect on the wording
