1 of Sunderland's Man's broke down at the Southwick bus link today, was right at the start, buses were finding it hard to see if a bus was coming the other way, the driver from the bus told my driver, it just stopped, no power at all

Apparently a couple of petitions have been handed to Nexus regarding changes to the 1 service in Newcastle and the 13 service in Sunderland.

From tomorrows ITA agenda -

"Nexus has received two petitions from residents regarding changes to the
commercial bus network.

A. Changes to the Stagecoach No. 13 service on Sunday on Doxford Park Way,
Sunderland.
B. Withdrawal of the Stagecoach No.1 service during July and August from
Buddle Road, Newcastle.

It is recommended that the ITA instructs Nexus to liaise with the commercial
operator and bring a report to the January 2013 meeting."

I remember a petition a few years ago from residents when Stagecoach decided to route all trips on 4/13 around Hall Farm and Mill Hill up to every 5 minutes (completely omitting Doxford Park Way). Stagecoach revised the service pattern so that both services served Doxford Park Way in alternate directions. Sunday daytime trips on 4/13 were reverted back to operating a loop around both estates in May which means Doxford Park Way is omitted again.

During Sunday daytimes, the 4 and 13 interwork at Doxford Park. There's ample time in the timetable for buses to interwork at Town End Farm instead; then 4 terminate at Mill Hill, and 13 at Hall Farm like the normal daytime service pattern.

Regarding the 1 in Newcastle, term time buses (September-June) operate every 7/8 minutes between Four Lane Ends and across Newcastle City Centre. In West Newcastle, alternate trips terminate on Buddle Road.

Not really sure what can be done with this service. It's clear that the service is reduced to 10 minutes throughout when there are fewer students travelling during the summer months. 32/32A also serve Buddle Road, though this takes around twice the time to travel to Newcastle than the 1.
What did the 62/3 service used to be operated by before all the Enviros were put on the service ?
