But the sapphire it was replacing pulled in minutes behind 4648 arriving, so basically it was a pointless Excersise, sapphire pulsar then went spare to the town hall

Looks like it got taken off that working and placed onto the 14:35 5A from Darlington. It's currently running 26 minutes late, likely to be a result of the roadworks at Harrowgate Hill.

Every time I go out of Darlington for the day, rare workings happen left right and centre, when I'm in Darlington nothing ever happens

Seems to be a 63 branded Pulsar on the 62 daily - is there any known reason for this?

Are Redcar doing what Blyth do - ensuring buses leave on time by sending out a fresh bus, then the branded bus becomes spare?

The 62a and 63 interwork on an evening - so I'm speculating that the branded Pulsars have been allocated to the boards that stay out on an evening.
