North road roundabout in Durham is where the Cling On Corner residents go for a day out. (Though maybe some will choose a more exotic location like Peterlee, tomorrow)

Go North East has received a demonstrator ADL Enviro400 City vehicle, which will be used on Tyne Tees Xpress services X9/X10 from tomorrow. It has been allocated fleet number 9098. It is of a premium specification, featuring coach style leather seats, tables with LED lighting, and USB sockets.

I like it, I think it looks really smart! The interior is very snazzy also.

It will be interesting to see how it performs! Which I guess will be very well.

How likely are GNE to go for ADL though, it doesn't seem to be a manufacturer that they prefer or is it more on the basis of affordability.

Also we only seem to be getting the demo for a couple of weeks, iirc the last ADL was only here a couple of weeks, whereas Wrightbus and Optare seem to offer much longer Demos. Is this down to the relationship between the 2 parties?

Could be down to demand.

I think it's the window arrangement that I'm not keen on, just doesn't look right. Seems I'm in the minority though!

Not sure how it will cope with the TTX mind. I'd still like to see an Elite i have a trial on there, in my opinion it's the only suitable replacement for the B9TL, unless GNE want to be replacing the vehicles every couple of years.
All,

I've trimmed some posts down, as people quoting the original post on the E400 demo were re-posting the images with it, over and over. This makes the thread very difficult to follow on a mobile screen.

Please try and crop quotes a bit, as it does help! Smile

Does anyone know where i can catch 9098 on Saturday morning in the Teesside area? Cheers
I think the E400 City looks nice but I am not totally sure on how it will fare the heavy, demanding nature of the X9/X10 route, I fear it will possibly be met with similar responses to when StreetDeck SN64CTU was on these services last year. I've ridden one of Blackpool Transport's examples and thought it was pretty comfortable but it wasn't fast, mind it wasn't on a route where you could get up to much speed, although most of Blackpool is 30mph or less and it's difficult comparing a stop, start route round Blackpool and Flyde Coast to the Tyne Tees Xpress.

What do the buttons do?

What do the buttons do?

A little host/hostess comes scuttling down the saloon to take another drinks order apparently.

Stop bells for alighting. Notice no handrails are present on the upstairs interior other than the side of seats, there aren't any grab poles as you usually expect.

Further evidence that 3995/6 do not need modifications prior to January - I know there was a debate over this a few months ago on the forum.

Seeing as it's being trialled on the X9 and X10 surely Boro bus station  would be your best bet. That's if it's out on Saturday
I think he means the black circle next to the bell, Which is a USB port...
This is going on the Angel?! Ridiculously over spec for the Angel but it would certainly make me think twice when the X12 turned up if GNE were offering this on service.

It's nice to see them think out the box. 9099 has been excellent from a passenger point of view , far preferable to the Streetdeck imo.

Come oooon GNE, this is your chance to put the 21 right. No govt grants to fudge, no awful single decker choices, no London cast offs....you can do it!! ???
