I drove through Sunderland the other night and saw a stack of gas buses in those few minutes crossing the Monkwearmouth Bridge and along St Michaels Way.
The majority of those I saw were all in corporate colours.
I did notice the inside of the roof covings were still blue.

A quarter of them done now – 28002/06/07/09/10/25/27/29/33/37. 28025’s been done for a few weeks now.

Had a shocking and very unusual experience on-board the X24 today. I boarded the 15:22 departure to Newcastle from holmeside and was surprised to see it only had a few passengers on-board, most passengers alighted at the Hospital with only me and a young woman who disembarked at The Broadway. I was even more shocked when we hit the A19 and it was only me left as a passenger on-board. I left the service at Gateshead High Street to where several boarded for the short journey across the bridge to Newcastle.
If that particular journey is not gaining passengers would it not be easier making that a X24A and aiming to pick workers up who leave work at 16:00. I also noted at Hastings Hill after this journey there is no X24s for four hours, surely Stagecoach should extend the X24A up to Hastings Hill then down the A19 to Doxford Park.

I don't understand either why the x24a can't serve both Hastings hill and Doxford Park. It currently turns off at Springwell Road and misses out a few stops on Chester Road, and normally takes about ten minutes to get from Springwell Road to Doxford. If it went to Hastings Hill and then down the A19, I don't even think it would take any longer than it currently does. So, basically they've created a big gap in service without even saving much journey time.

How many times does a bus leave X63 and go on 12. I boarded 19676 on X63 this morning yet I saw it this evening working the 12.

Surely they have to play their part too?
This is not specifically about Stagecoach, or any other bus company - it’s about the impact of congestion on bus passengers and other road users in the area and the situation simply cannot continue if we are to continue improving the local bus network and improving the local environment.
“Our passengers are paying the price for short-sighted policies that have led us to this point - we urgently need politicians to take practical action to get our towns and cities moving again.”
If fares and journeys were attractive, if they ran when people wanted them to and met passenger demands, rather than to suit their own operational whims...
Short-sighted policies indeed.
Don't get me started on a private operator, operating in a de-regulated market wanting even more government support than they already recieve either.
I've no sympathy at all. Not just with SNE, but other operators who are complaining about traffic.

Sampled the 19:24 X24 from Sunderland to Newcastle, another Gas Bus (No Suprise) those omnilinks are never in service to be honest. At first it was just me and a lady who alighted just after The Broadway. Then a man boards and we hit the A19, another example of Low passenger usage on this service. As such there is now the 15:22 and 19:24 from Sunderland which pretty much carry fresh air, this is pretty worrying for the continuation of this service as it only ever gets high passenger numbers on a Saturday by the looks of it.
Has anyone else been observing the X24 as most passengers on Chester Road only use it for several stops or to the town, it seems to just come as extra transport alongside the 8 and 16.
I can not see this service surviving Monday to Friday on it's current timetable as the times are ridiculous and the loading of the service are ridiculous.

It gets user by a lot of people at Peak Time in the morning it's mainly used towards Newcastle and Gateshead and more or less the same passengers use it back to Sunderland in the afternoon or evening

Parts recovery, after 17643's engine went pop. Was sold out of the group to Ferrymill Motors back in March, so back for spares/engine donation in a topsey-turvey Stagecoach way. With Exhibition of the North soon they need the Tridents ship-shape to cover the increased PVR.

Ex Stagecoach 17388 which is fitted with a large screen on one side is currently parked up in Sunderland depot, presumably its being stored there ready for the World Cup fan zone in Sunderland.

I use the 19:24 every friday, its very handy and would be a shame to see it go. Plus, on the return it sees a canny few more passengers from what i see.

Information about the new City Sightseeing Ouseburn Valley 'blue route', in partnership with The Great Exhibition of The North, is now available on the Stagecoach website: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and...egateshead
The normal CS1 'red route' remains unchanged.

I use it at various different times, and I personally think it probably does enough on Monday to Friday to survive.
Any time after lunch going out of Newcastle there's a fair few seem to get on it. When I've been on the 2.35pm or 3.45pm for example, it's been quite full, so I think it does get passengers outside of the morning/evening peak. Same with mid-morning journeys from Sunderland to Newcastle.
It does seem that going towards Newcastle in the afternoon it does not seem to get very many passengers apart from ones who just use it as a local service in Sunderland. However, introducing the X24A has probably helped as that gets workers boarding which otherwise wouldn't have if it just went via the regular X24 route. I'd say an average of 7-8 people board at Doxford.

Plus you've got to remember there will be a canny few hopping on at Newcastle to return to Sunderland later on. Always packed from 3pm onwards to the last one. Also noticed a few people get on at Gateshead High Street tonight going to Newcastle.

In theory all but 22509.
22511 is a bit of a yo-yo in and out of the workshops and 22514 seems to have not had a good start at Stockton, though it always seemed one of the more reliable ones at Slatyford. The rest are in pretty regular service.

39727 now at Newcastle on the 7 today.
This must be the reason behind 34605 has been in full service the last few days.

They should send 39709 to shields allowing 35188 to come to Sunderland replacing 34605.
