2x Optare Solos have been on X66/X67 today.

It seems a regular occurrence for Solos on the Darlington MAX services, although with 4645/4648/4655 being kept local and 4651 on long term VOR it's quite clear why those services have the rare allocations.

It would make sense to allocate either the Gas Buses or the Wright StreetLites as suitable spares, rather than use the Optare Solos which end up overcrowded when I've seen them...

It's not as regular as you are making it out to be but still more often than it should but what can you do... let's not have StreetLites being taken off 1/5/5A/X1 to do X66/X67 as that doesn't solve issues, it just pushes the issue elsewhere.

Looking on BusTimes it has just been a really bad day at Darlington depot so allocations have been whatever has been available, seem to be short on full size singles at Darlington presently, the following weren't tracked on Bus Times today:
1590, 1591, 1606, 1612, 4649, 4651, 4658, 4804, some of which are long term VOR.

Things like the 12 now needing a full size single (primarily 1511) to meet school loadings also doesn't help.

4802 doesn't seem to be tracking at all - has something happened to this vehicle?

4802 was involved in an incident in Darlington Town Centre which resulted in a fatality so was impounded for a long time whilst investigations and the court case went on, think those are over now but still doesn't seem to be making a return to service anytime soon for some reason.

From inside information 4802 is still having troubles being started due to problems with the engine, think it’s currently awaiting a new one so may take longer than expected to be back out

4658 is currently at Jesmond awaiting a new engine as well, so that might be a while before that sees service again

4651 is currently off road awaiting a new diff, been off since October

Ah, thanks for the background - my thoughts are with all involved, especially the driver.

I'm not sure 7475 ever left Ashington after it was withdrawn...
