Parked at the rear of Saltmeadows is former Original Tour / Tootbus DAF DB250LF / Plaxton President DLP264 - LJ51DKV
There is a further 1 or possibly 2 further around the back of Saltmeadows. Likely to be same as the vehicle mentioned earlier.
To be replacing the Toon Tour Plaxtons?

Upon looking on my old Flickr account appears I have a pic of if LJ51DJZ wounder if this is a vehicle that we are getting up here assuming it is euro 6
Seen DLP264 arriving at Saltmeatows in its Original London livery at 0945. It came from the other side of Heworth Metro, so presumably came from the South via A194M. Straight round the back, out of sight of main road.

Perhaps GNE can retain the B7s, use them Tynemouth to St. Mary's or even Blyth , or do a stagecoach and put them on the X6, lovely  Big Grin Big Grin

I still think they should do an X21 open top!

Would you accept a non-StreetDeck open topper though?

As long as they still had tables, gotta get that paperwork done!  Big Grin
Another open topper is former DLP254 - LJ51DJZ, there is a third one too. They must have 4 as the two I saw are in I believe were in Union Flag livery. As DLP254 and one other I could see are plain red base
4 now Interesting
My mistake theres only 3, one red one and 2 union flag ones.

Personally I always think these look odd as single doors. So used to seeing them as dual doors.
They have a smaller sheltered part at the front upstairs than our current ones do. Undecided

Believe they’re not sheltered at all. They have the two side windows (presumably to flow round from the front window) but no roof.

You don't go upstairs on an open top bus to sit in the sheltered part!

Depends on the weather and the limited time you have visiting the city. I’ve been on Oxford’s & London’s in the rain, under the roof bit, and on New York’s in minus degree November weather glad to be sheltered from the wind chill.
I hope the replacement vehicles for the Toon Tour have the commentary system played via headphones. I found the current speaker setup difficult to hear at times this week because of the wind and the roar from the engine - it meant we missed several chunks of commentary.
Tbh I hope what ever they get next on the toon tour is euro 6
Bit of a strange one. But wonder if these "new" open toppers will receive the current TT branding or will make a new one
These DAF DB250 / Plaxton Presidents have been re-engined and meet the Euro 6 rating.

Excellent! I wondered what they’d do to avoid the CAZ charge. Hopefully these new(er) engines will be quieter too.
It has been at Percy Main for a number of weeks, and today was the first time it was photable.

It's due its MOT and was meant to be getting prepped for it. Possibly at the depot for familierisation by the drivers and engineers.

Presumably GNE hoping that they will have enough drivers to run all the normal services by the time that the Toon Tour is due to start
