Sunday timetables on the two replacement bank holidays. Surprising, considering Stagecoach and Metro are running Saturday timetables. I’d guess it’s a result of lack of resource.

Will make using public transport to attend NUFC match on the Monday a little harder for some tho I’m sure by then the govt will have eroded any remaining confidence in public transport to a level that make Uber shares surge
Any chance the mods could do some merging and do something about what seems like a million boxing day/Christmas threads please?

Coupled in a stack of overcrowding on the services that are running and there will no doubt be such a big drop in confidence, operators won't be able to blame the tories any more.
Sunday timetables on the 27/28/3rd?!

There is not many at all.

Surprsing that X45 or 46, X72, 8 or 78, 5, 39, 57, 65, Washington Locals.

Seems Warley is just forgotten about.

311 yet again running (don't understand why they can't run the 310 instead and serve Hadrian Park but hey)

You love a good moan dont you?
The more services you run on Bank Holidays the bigger problem you face later in the year with more lieu days being whacked in than you can cover.
Looks like Arriva are not bothering running anything on Boxing day this year, because a) It's a Sunday and b) Many shops are staying shut as a thank you to their staff for their efforts during covid. And Mon 27th/Tues 28th will be running a bank holiday (Sunday) service with a few exceptions.

You’d have thought they would mention the services which are running albeit under contract to another operator…

Its not that I love a moan, Its the fact that many people use the buses on the 27/28th. And with a lot of shops being closed on the 26th.
I just say things as I see it.

And if you don't like that don't worry I won't loose any sleep.
Wonder why the 311 is only hourly as opposed to half hourly?

The 306/308 will be running no doubt there's no need for more services along there. Better to use the resources on areas without nothing at all like the 6 and 26.

Same for the X45 and 57 as others mentioned above. The first having the 47, Wardley having the Metro. The 1 isn't running either.

Mind I'm surprised they haven't had a punt at a Peterlee service which aren't usually popular but unless things are changing Arriva Durham don't run Boxing Day services so the whole town is unserved at all.
What are these services Dan?

If I remember correctly. It interwork with the Q3
Arriva ain't running any services this year. Well I hope someone had won the 306 or otherwise its metro to town this year

Stagecoach and Metro are operating Saturday timetables.

It's obviously down to a lack of resource/confidence to cover the required runs - much needed boost for our local taxi firms however!

Plus no doubt some short notice journey cancellations making the overcrowding even worse.

I've moved the recent posts to the one relevant to 2021 and closed off the previous one.

When I've used boxing day buses, I've found its not so much overcrowding (apart from when there's home matches on), but more that people don't bother. Washington for example, there's only the 2, 4 and 56 running. Nothing to/from/anywhere near the likes of Barmston, Ayton or Rickleton. Its obviously better than fresh air, which is all Arriva provides on Boxing Day, but it's not exactly conducive to encouraging people to use buses instead of a private car... at least I don't know many private cars that refuse to work on Boxing Day.

Has there been any confirmation on who is running the Arriva service in Newcastle on boxing day yet
Go North East have now updated there boxing day buses timetable to show which routes will have what buses allocated

You can find this under the Christmas & New Year part on the website

These routes are

6 will be operated by East Gateshead Loop buses
16A will be operated by X Lines E400MMC
20 will be operated by Double Decker
35A will be operated by Prince Bishops (fun fact you can see what the design for Prince Bishops will look like)
Q3 will be operated by Double Decker

What I find quite funny looking is the design they have used is the East Gateshead Loop put onto an E400MMC it looks strange

Also note that it does not state the X66 will be double decker allocated

Nexus website now updated with all bus times for Christmas & Boxing day. Nexus are paying for some service as well. Still no mention of Arriva running a service on boxing day

On Boxing Day, Go North East and Stagecoach will run some daytime services, with additional services paid for by Nexus. More information will be attached below as soon as possible
No service Xmas day and NYD again... Public service that doesn't run when the public requires it.
