Looks like it could be a berries crumble now.
Don’t trust these at all. Same happened to 8303 I think it was in Chester le st
Properly Baked Cherries
Looks like the fire started at the front rather than in the engine bay?

Electrical, perhaps?
Don't really trust these buses anymore, especially ADLs MMC range, there was a green arrow that caught fire and a 400MMC elsewhere in the country that caught fire. Might start pedal biking everywhere at this rate

It wouldn't have to be, wouldn't it?
There's nothing else up the front end other than perhaps hydraulics or air.

Is it the Versas that have the pod on top for the heating/cooling?

Have any Streetlites or Streetdecks caught fire?

Any vehicle has the potential to catch fire. Me and my nana was involved in such an incident in the early 90s when a Northumbria bus went up near Whitley Bay Ice Rink. Still never put me off.

There has been two Streetdecks that has caught fire one mechanical in Southampton the other was malicious in Northern Ireland.

It's possible Streetlites have also had thermal incidents, though most modern vehicles should have fire suppression systems to try and reduce the damage.

Yes, some (maybe all?) Versas have air con pods on the cab roof (also some Solos, Drifter Streetlites and short Streetlites all have cab A/C). Long since deactivated though (im sure they claimed it was a fire risk but could be wrong). There was supposed to be a come back (due to complaints from the union) and some were repaired/had work done to them (new stickers in the cab) but they were never fixed and switched on. All the Mercs had their air con pipes cut too (20K to fix/replace according to the union).
Well and truly flambéed.

There seems to be a good few Versas now where even the blowers at the back aren't putting any heat out. They used to be fairly consistent and heat the bus nicely, but I assume its down to maintenance priorities, and something like that being bottom of the list to fix... if it runs, it runs...

Regarding the Mercs, I don't think the air conditioning has ever been active beyond the first year or so in service. Pensioners used to complain about the buses being too cold all the time, so off it went and the windows were unlocked.
8330 has become a jam tart

I'm not too sure but I know the StreetDecks gearboxes are dodgy

Lucky they poured the custard on fast enough for it not to spread to that building.
Never have a seen something so scary. The bus shelter was melted in parts but to think the community centre could have been wiped out!!
These versas need scrapping sooner rather than later

Why? Because a few have set themselves on fire?

Do you think the same for car companies?

Should Ford pull every Ford Model off the road, because of a few car fires?, same as Nissan, Honda etc

So you're saying, they should take every Versa off, due to a fire,

I think there needs to be some investigations into what happened and how the fire started.

Maybe it could be an issue with the build, which could create a recall.

Sure GNE etc will investigate, but they can't just take every Versa off the road, until an investigation is done, plus GNE don't have the buses to replace them.

They will probably re instate one of the ex Quay City versa's as a replacement.

If there's any make of cars that should be pulled of the cars, it's Tesla's. But that's a completely different kettle of fish.
Has anyone heard anything more about the green arrow that caught fire a bit ago?

5334 was reinstated (having been mothballed for a day!)

So are the citaros going? If so when?

5327 has been withdrawn. It should have been withdrawn back in November last year when GNE lost the contract to operate scholars service 889 to Park View.

5334-36 are due to be mothballed as soon as possible (likely to be when 5386-88 are repainted and return to service at Riverside). Note they aren’t being withdrawn as they may be required to be reinstated if GNE wins additional contracts or reinstates the frequency of some of the temporarily reduced services.

5388 has now been repainted into fleet livery and is undergoing preparation for service at Riverside.

Deptford only has the 60/X20 as temporarily reduced. Which are more than likely staying reduced.

So 5386-88 going for the 61? but its a PVR 4

Riverside don’t operate the 61!

Yes, so why would the Ex-QuayCity's getting repainted affect the citaros on the 61

Because they could displace buses at Riverside which would transfer to Deptford to replace the Citaros?
