Should these be banned??
Just seen a video on FB of a kids grabbing onto tree branches as the E2? is driving along a street heading to sheilds I think. Driver in car had to stop bus and tell driver as he though someone could die.
Back to safe single deckers??

I don’t think they should be banned just because some kids are being little sh*ts. Time to throw the book at unruly kids, rather than punish the law abiding who like riding open deckers.
At Downhill, kids used to climb onto the buses at night and ride on the roof - one apparently fell off and broke their leg! Should we ban single deckers from the 4 or remove all the shelters?

Seems like the kids problem not the driver's.
Kids are wrapped up in too much cotton wool these days, maybe they need to learn the hard way they shouldn't do stupid things!
Should the trees not be pruned if they're low enough to grab from an open top decker? Maybe reporting it to the council would be more productive than videoing it for social media.

When you turn right off Lizard Lane on an E6 at Whitburn, you're hitting trees even in a single because of cars parked on the right. Can't imagine it being much fun in an open topper!

Tbf most trees are probably grabable off an open top.

Yes, open top buses should not be on commercial routes. It's all good for a 'bit of fun' but when I'm using a bus, I don't want an open top bus, or a heritage bus etc.
Keep the things for dedicated routes or at least routes advertised with them well in advance and make sense them being on.

I quite liked an Open top on the 309/310/311 & 56 last year, but they were high frequency services, however it must have been awful if it started raining or it was windy especially on a night.
Let's start a petition for the open top on the X10 Newcastle to Middlesbrough via the A19
That would be a frostbite experience....

See I think it's a bit of a gimmick me as the people on that bus probably don't want an open top bus / don't have a clue why there's an open top bus on there, bit weird...? Whereas the people who would actually want an open top bus won't know it's there. It's a lose lose imo, fair enough if it was a duplicate on a busy seaside route with loads of advertising and that but it's not.
Personally if I wasn't aware of it I'd probably think they ran out of buses and that's last resort - joke of a company.

What was/ is the max speeds of the open toppers, the old ones i would be surprised if they could go 40mph

Actually I agree

It's not too far from the truth - there have been days they've relied on them to run a full service.

ive seen GNE school buses where i live where kids can managed to chuck stuff out of the windows at cars/people before, its because they are little shits not because its a double decker

Honestly not surprised one bit, had a sneaky feeling it might have been that but didn't want to mention it because of Chinese whispers.

I think tbh they were just having a bad day more than anything else.
