I would find it extremely difficult to believe they made a loss.
They were taking in over a grand a day

Minus operating costs what would that be?

One assumes the driver didn't get paid, as they are a director. So, probably around £30/£35 an hour to run the bus
The service did have its own driver by the end, who did get paid.

Not sure how much things like insurance are for this type of thing but they probably made a couple hundred in profit per day.
Never used it, as i wasnt a fan of the director

It wasn't there for enthusiasts, it was 100% for the thousands of stranded people in Washington who were isolated due to GNE's monopoly of the area during the strike.

It certainly was a lifeline for many. Two of my friends were relieved when the service started as the cost of getting to work was so high using taxi's that they really were starting to worry about how to pay the rent etc. Let's just say the words Go Ahead are banned from their house now!

Okay, to be specific ‘commercial director’ but still heavily involved nevertheless.

That’s nee the director av heard of. It’s a fella called James who used to work at Just Travel in York & drove for Connexions buses.
