Northumbria:

Ashington: 1/2/X14/X15/X16/X18/X20/X21/22/35/57/57A/415/434/460/777
Blyth: X7/X8/X9/X10/X11/X30/43*/44*/45*/306/308/553

* Some boards by Ashington

Durham / Teesside:

Darlington: All buses that serve Darlington bar a few boards on the X66/X67 (Stockton)
Durham: All buses that serve Durham bar the 7 (Darlington) and a few boards on the X12 (Stockton)
Redcar / Whitby (Outstation): X3/X3A/X4/X4A/62/63/64/64A/81/X93/X94/95/96/P1/P2
Stockton: 5/5A/7/8/9/15/16/17/17A/X12**/X22/28/28A/29/X66**/X67**

** Some boards by Durham / Darlington

I've no doubt missed something. Didn't list the Darlington and Durham routes as there'll be duplicate numbers and it'll get confusing fast.
Thank you

Redcar also operate contract services MC2/3/4 while Stockton operate MC1. Whitby also have school contracts 318S & 323S

This doesn't 100% belong here but just curious after seeing someone talking about a Temsa but why are the Commanders / Pulsars and vehicles onwards allocated in the 14xx/15xx series.

Weren't the 4xxx blocks always the fleet numbers of full length saloons and there were loads of blocks left at the time.

Similar question for the 17xx MPD's when the 2xxx series were always the 8.9m/9.5m bus groupings, the Solo's and E200MMC's after being in the right blocks.

The 1xxx series usually being reserved for stuff inbetween similar to GNE's 8xxx series; Cadets etc.

Assume there's some reason?

Wasn’t it that the Temsas, Scanias, MANs etc., were viewed as heavy weight vehicles while the Pulsars and Commanders were seen as lighter weight?

Not too sure to be honest. I always thought the Temsas were lightweight vehicles aswell?

It's what I thought at first but the Temsas throw it out the window a bit.
I think the Temsa are classed as full size singles because they have bigger wheels.

I'm sure the VDL SB200 and Wright Streetlite have a small wheel diameter compared to the Temsa. Trying to find a photo of a Temsa with something along side to compare.

Looking at photos, the Temsa have full sized wheels when you compare how much panal space they take up compared to the lightweight chassis.

Good shout that actually, wonder if they're actually being allocated around wheels and it's actually (or was until the Enviro 200 MMC's turned up) and nothing to do with length unlike pretty much everyone else.

1xxx: Smaller Wheel, DF Vehicles
2xxx: Smaller Wheel, WF Vehicles
3xxx: ???
4xxx: Larger Wheel, DF Vehicles

Would explain the MPD's being in the 1xxx series and not the 2xxx series aswell. Obviously the Enviro 200 MMC's break it though now.
1xxx - Small Wheels, Long Wheelbase
2xxx - Small Wheels, Short Wheelbase
3xxx -
4xxx - Large Wheels, Long Wheelbase

Though mainly overall Arriva North Easts number scheme is still a bit messy being a hodgepog of Northumbria and North East Bus numbering originally. I believe there was plans for a complete renumbering on a number of occasions, but they either got part way though it and stopped renumbering, for example the MCW Metrobuses were planned to be numbered into the 7xxx range originally (I do recall seeing one or two with internal fleetnumbers with a 7 added to their 6xx number.

They probably change the rules again when these Volvo B8RLEs come, who knows what they're going to be numbered as. Just wish they renumbered the 15xx Streetlites into the 16xx range instead. And also split the double deckers up a bit.
74xx - Volvo B9TL
75xx - ADL E400
76xx - VDL DB300
77xx - ADL E400MMC.
