GNE have updated the venture timetable so that they all (V1-V9) use the new style timetable as some weren't. It also picture the new Solo SR's. Here's a screen grab and free wifi also!

Omg, that looks really good, better than the last shitty version.

Think the people of Consett would be happy with that.

The tab on the site should be updated soon and GNE should post about it getting new buses.

I got an email from them yesterday and I think that was the first offical post about new venture buses. I wonder if GNE are going to test them to see how it does then thinking of buying some more for East Durham as I can't really see what else could go onto there, possibly Versas for the 260/265/202 block. But I think smaller vehicles would be best for the others. There's also North Tyne Links, WSS W5/W6, OK Way who all need MPD replacements in the future I mean replacing them all is going to be a big task but I can't see what else the services would use. North Tyne Links would be the only candidate I would suggest giving bigger buses too, cadets maybe?

End of an era today, the final DAF will be withdrawn later today with goodbye to the Lambton Worms. Also the final day for drifter Versa's on the 60, before they are transferred to Chester-Le-Street (8302-8305).
Obviously with GNE's branding ideas, the first opportunity to see a drifter Streetlite maybe on the 7:24 42 Silksworth-Sunderland if the 42/60'continue to interwork.

(09 Nov 2013, 12:38 am)GMitchelhill wrote It's also the QEII Metro Bridge that is low aswell as the one next to the High Level.

And to add at the minute. The X66 is unable to use the Centrelink heading Westbound due to the roadworks at the Railway Bridge at the bottom of West Street, which have also caused Hill Street to be closed off.

I don't think the Metro Bridge will be a problem - Photo by NEB's Own Daniel Graham - http://www.flickr.com/photos/danielgrahamm/9915553855/, Like I said last night does the X66 really need use the Centrelink as I think it would be quicker going via A184 Askew Road going to and from the MetroCentre thus allowing it to use Gemini 2's without a Problem.

Gonna be a long weekend for transfers for drivers.

The clearance under the Metro Bridge on the Gateshead bound section is about 11ft-ish! The few trips on the 10 that use Centrelink use the lower road, the one the X66 would normally use towards the MetroCentre.

The Low Height Example like Arriva Have could they work on the Centrelink, any ideas on the Height of these low bridges as the Height of the Gemini 2 is 4.4m and the Low Height is 4.23m, if not then I would have it run along the A184 Askew Road as it does currentlyy going to the MetroCentre.

No deckers will fit under, that's is 100% certain.

I honestly don't think it's worth the investment for the X66. Once you make it upstairs, you'll have to come down within a few minutes. Plus, they'll get ruined within weeks!

I think Loops aren't meant to go via the Centrelink just in case... Deckers are out of the question.

The A184 heading into Gateshead is a nightmare, so to have buses stuck in that traffic would not be ideal. It is the Metro Bridge I was thinking of, and if you travel on a X66 coming towards it, you even think the single decker is not going to go through.

RE: Go North East - Latest - grandad - 09 Nov 2013

The new Venture Solo looks good.
Is the 689 operated by Venture or Tynedale? I thought it was Venture since the first run is Consett-Hexham! A new Solo would work well.

Definately get a decker through there Tongue

RE: Go North East - Latest - gtom - 09 Nov 2013

I can see why an upgrade for the X66 was suggested and we've seen DD examples work the MC previously. It doesn't really matter what route they take at Christmas as it tends to get very busy around there anyway

Anyone else think that Venture logo looks like it was nicked from the entrance of a theme park?

I was thinking more of a naff, SuperMan rip off.

VentureMan will be cursing whoever stole the logo from his outfit!
His powers will be depleted and he won't be able to defend Botham City from his arch nemesis The Poker

And promotion girls dressed as wonder woman? Or am I reading too much into this? Tongue

I actually think GNE are starting to crack it with their branding. Easy on the eye and effective. Rather than painful and tatty.

Whey, if you want promotion girls dressed as wonder woman, I am sure it can be arranged.

GNE are seemingly upping the ante with their new launches. It has gone from free cups of coffee, to bars of chocolate - the logical next step must be promotion girls dressed as wonder woman! Wink

Now where has that fella who gets involved and possibly organises these events got to!

Got my inspiration from the photo album GNE posted on their Facebook page. But yeah, I quite like the promotions they're doing. Gets people involved, although I think they'd have to go some way to beat their own 'The Key' launch and the flash mobs.

Little perspective shot for ya Cool

Jesus that is low, I guess Geminis wouldn't be ideal after all unless it was to operate a Different Route

Using Geminis would be a very cost effective way of Go Ahead bidding for the City Sightseeing Open Top tour

Just had a look at the new timetable for the Quaylink, it says revised route but I can't see any different? My eyes may be failing. Any light shed on this?

Think I asked this a few months ago? I think it's to do with the route now operating via Bottle Bank instead of turning right at the lights before the Tyne Bridge.

Don't get too excited, especially if you're off to Lumiere and if you are, park at either Sniperley, Belmont, Merryoaks or Howlands ! Plus, there's the extra 21's & X21's as well !!!
