Will keep a look out for this one. RE: London Bus Operations - Tom - 21 Jun 2014 The Borismasters for the 8 have now entered service, a week before expected. Should work well within London RE: London Bus Operations - Adrian - 06 Jul 2014 (06 Jul 2014, 10:40 am)Michael wrote Should work well within London It will, because the technology is there to support such a move. Most of your travellers in London will have either a Oyster card or an ENCTS pass. Those there for a day trip will normally pay for a day ticket as part of their rail tickets. In the rare occasion anyone won't have either of the three, then they can pay by contactless payment from a debit/credit card. In an update to that, It has been Painted Green for Demonstration Purposes at First Leeds, No doubt this is to do with proposed plan for a "New Bus For Leeds", instead of a Trolleybuses which was suggested by West Yorkshire PTE. LT2 has since arrived at Leeds Hunslet Park Depot https://www.flickr.com/photos/rods-snaps/14725145605/ Photo By Flickr User: Rod Whitaker West Yorkshire PTE's Trolleybus suggestion would cost £250,000,000 to Implement, and they'd like up and running by 2019, where First Leeds would prefer to Purchase NB4L's at a of £354,500 each, Resulting in an Overall cost of £70,900,000 for 200 Vehicles, Saving £170,100,000 Overall, and it could be implemented a lot sooner than the Trolleybuses. I'd thought I'd read about coordinated strike action across the bus operators, but can't see anything other than Tower Transit. Shame like, as it's a bit short sighted by Unite. London Bus Operations - R852 PRG - 09 Feb 2015 (09 Feb 2015, 6:55 pm)Adam wrote Yeah. I'm hoping to get a Borismaster when down there. I think I've mentioned it before, but the 10 stops right outside King's Cross station, so it could be the first or last thing we do when down there. Just get your Oysters and go nuts. RE: London Bus Operations - tyresmoke - 09 Feb 2015 (09 Feb 2015, 7:06 pm)Adam wrote haha. I've looked at the prices and they are capped. We've ordered ones covering Zones 1 & 2. For the buses, it's £1.50 for any single journey, with a cap of £4.40, so you could ride 20 bus journeys and it would still just cost £4.40. As for the Tube, it's a £2.something single for Zones 1 & 2, with a cap of £6.something, so the maximum I'm going to spend on transport whilst down there is £11 odd You won't spend more than £6.40 in Zone 1&2 on pay as you go as it's capped at that price, no matter how many journeys you make. If you get chance then I'd definitely include a ride on the DLR, and I would have recommended the Emirates Air-line too but this is in zone 3 (North Greenwich-Royal Victoria). A trip on the Thames Clipper boats down the River Thames was great when we did it in 2012 (at the end of a very long, but superb, day out) - it was just getting dark and everywhere was lit up along the river, we did Woolwich to Embankment London Bus Operations - R852 PRG - 09 Feb 2015 (09 Feb 2015, 10:25 pm)Adam wrote Ah. I bought £15 worth of credit on each card. Suppose I'll get another day out of it if I return. For your cousin - most beautiful and well-designed tube stations; 1.) Arnos Grove (Piccadilly) 2.) Barbican (Circle/Metropolitan/Hammersmith) 3.) Canary Wharf (Jubilee) 4.) Chesham (Metropolitan) 5.) Cockfosters () (Piccadilly) 6.) East Finchley (Northern) 7.) Gants Hill (Central) 8.) St. James' Park (District/Circle) 9.) Southwark (Jubilee) 10.) Westminster (Central/District/Jubilee) I've visited 3 of them whilst in London; St. James' Park, Westminster and Arnos Grove. I must say the architecture of Westminster is incredible. Hope that's of use to your cousin, Adam. Peak vehicle requirement: 60 Frequency 3-8 minutes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Buses_route_25 No one can complain if the bus is late haha... wish my route was like frequented. RE: London Bus Operations - Adrian - 15 Feb 2015 (15 Feb 2015, 1:31 pm)Michael wrote Just browsing through the London bus routes on Wikipedia (not the most reliable of course) - i clicked on the 25 route... They actually take into account traffic congestion down there though. You can't get away from it. I've only used the 25 once or twice I think. I use the 73 regularly when down there, which has a PVR of 53. Despite having a 3-4 min frequency, it's very rare I've seen them come in twos, even at peak times. Always heavily used too, justifying the frequency. Impressed at build quality, how quiet they are, and that you don't hear any rattles. Downside for me is the seating though, which doesn't compare to what we have on the GNE B9s for example.
