RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2016 - NK53 TKT - 23 Apr 2016 (23 Apr 2016, 5:49 pm)Dan wrote The 45/46 services do not serve Metro Oasis towards Consett, but are in fact registered to serve this stop towards Newcastle (despite the Nexus liners suggesting that services 49 and 643 are the only services which serve this stop). They can't serve this stop towards Consett as the bus would have to cross two lanes to get back into the correct lane - the driver was right to tell the passenger that they could not alight at this stop. That is not true in the case of some buses including the Q3 RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2016 - Dan - 23 Apr 2016 (23 Apr 2016, 7:14 pm)BusLoverMum wrote One that we caught the other week did that in Birtley. The audio just jumped ahead of itself then didn't recover. Visuals stayed fine. Not sure about anything that's happened in the past, but most of the Angels had their media updated last Sunday. That should have cured any issues... Will try and get myself on an Angel next week to replicate the issue Ambassador has observed. (23 Apr 2016, 7:18 pm)NK53 TKT wrote That is not true in the case of some buses including the Q3 Think the guy who manages the company's Next Stop Announcements knows the process..! It is true - I receive a stop list from the commercial department, which uses the information from the NAPTAN database (where amendments have not been made). This stop list feeds the company's real time information system, and in turn the mobile app, as well as a number of other things 'behind the scenes' that customers don't get to see. This stop list doesn't just have a list of names, but the bus stop code as well as GPS co-ordinates of that stop. I make amendments to the names of the stops, based on street names and well-known places in that area, using Google Maps. These are then recorded. I didn't do the Quaylink, but I'm guessing that the person responsible for the Next Stop Announcements prior to me would have had a similar process. I've no idea what I'm talking about but perhaps a tweak to the software? I seem to completely lose a decent 4G signal mid Low Fell and at points in Birtley, maybe the GPS has a bit of a moment 6060 is one of the few that randomly announce Coast Road stops. I've not managed to replicate that one to date either. It shouldn't really affect GPS signals, though. Birtley seems to be a blackspot for both EE and Three (have had 3G via both on my phone). i think it suffers simply from being Birtley in between transmitters. RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2016 - dannygee - 23 Apr 2016 Some stops on the 309/310 are not announcend but are on screen. Plus on the 309 why is whitley bay town centre announced twice towards newcastle. And cobalt business exchange doesnt exist as nexus took the stop away towards town. As I've said before - the announcements that haven't been re-launched have nothing to do with me and I can't answer questions about them. Angel technically hasn't been re-launched yet, as it was only cosmetic changes to the slides using the same files it did previously. Everything will be re-launched in time. Just a case of prioritising certain brands to maintain a balanced workload with other jobs that need to be done! Aye, they were set like that for some reason - some good if you have trouble with your sight, but nevermind..haha RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2016 - palatine3833 - 24 Apr 2016 (23 Apr 2016, 5:55 pm)Dan wrote Towards Newcastle, the 45/46 should stop at Metro Oasis. I believe a staff notice went out to drivers regarding stopping arrangements earlier this week. According to information provided to Traveline, the only services stopping at Metro Oasis are services 49/49A/49C/643 towards Newcastle. I was on the X12 coming from Newcastle with a 21 right behind me, and when I stopped at the Barley Mow stop the real time information stated: X12 Middlesbrough - due, but 21 Chester-le-Street 2min. Can't understand why that happened considering we were both sitting at the stop. Not sure if 8297 has transferred yet. RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2016 - Michael - 25 Apr 2016 Have any of the Prince Bishop Streetlites arrived yet? Will GNE try and get it ready so it can attend the Metrocentre bus rally? RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2016 - Michael - 26 Apr 2016 Just got this email from GNE: Newcastle’s yellow Quaylink buses are thriving as passengers experience a more reliable service since it was revamped. The service is bucking the general trend of falling passenger numbers by retaining its popularity – now making around 2.3 million customer journeys a year. The new Q1/Q2 services are keeping-to-time much better since Go North East revamped the services to operate every 15 minutes. On average almost 85% of buses are now bang-on-time, up from 79% for the 51/52 services they replaced. Head of commercial at Go North East, Andrew Tyldsley said: “Our plans are on track to increase passenger numbers over the next three years. The new links we have added to the Quaylink routes are paying off. Our customers are getting a much more reliable service and are paying us back with their loyalty.” In recent months, the buses were given a fresh, eye-catching make over and new destinations were added to improve the service. Residents of the wider-Gateshead area and those living in Great Park and Gosforth are among those benefitting from new stops added to the Quaylink routes. Q1 and Q2 buses now link Windy Nook, Felling Square, Heworth, Leam Lane, Springwell, Wrekenton and Gateshead Town Centre with Gateshead Quayside, Newcastle city centre and Central Station. Q3 links Great Park, Regent Centre, Gosforth High Street and Newcastle city centre with the Theatre Royal, Guildhall, Law Courts, Ouseburn Valley, Hoults Yard, St Peters Basin and Spillers Quay. Quaylink buses run up to every 15 minutes during the day, and every 30 minutes in the evening and have audio next stop announcements. The Quaylink is a vital service for many commuters getting to work, and also to tourists wanting to access all the best attractions Newcastle and Gateshead have to offer. For more information - https://www.simplygo.com/all-services/quaylink It seems the Quaylink passengers have increased which is good, hopefully WIFI is installed soon. You have 5 services that each carried their own passengers, merged in to 3. I would be worried if it led to a decrease. The correct allocation is Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse vehicles - fleet numbers 4978 to 4982. These just carry Go North East's corporate livery. I am guessing the different vehicles you've seen on it the past few days are the peak-time runs? These do occasionally throw up wrong allocations - usually whichever single deck is left in the depot. |
