RE: Go North East - Latest - Tom - 27 Aug 2014 (27 Aug 2014, 9:20 pm)Dan wrote I had the joy of one on the 49 earlier... Late, as you'd imagine, and the driver stopped for a rest on the bank - which is when the 49 behind (a Merc) overtook! I was gutted because it was 13 minutes late by the time it got to my stop, and the run behind was a Trident. The Presidents are the same, absolutley awful. I know which one I'd go for! Go North East - Latest - R852 PRG - 27 Aug 2014 (27 Aug 2014, 9:21 pm)56everyday wrote Oh yes!!! Give me one of those any day!!! They were hopeless... Whenever a 28 didn't turn up I assumed it had stopped and Beamish too long and got taken in as an exhibit. Am I the ONLY one who thinks that the DAFs were magnificent?? Speaking of Lime I had an fully branded 8 the other day stuck doing 15mph, driver tried to reset many a time between Park Lane and the A19 but couldn't do anything with hit. He bottled it, half were transferred to the 2C, half were transferred to the 78 RE: Go North East - Latest - 56everyday - 27 Aug 2014 (27 Aug 2014, 9:24 pm)Marcus wrote Am I the ONLY one who thinks that the DAFs were magnificent?? I don't mind the old GNE Presidents, but I'm not a big fan of the ex London ones especially the Prontos RE: Go North East - Latest - 56everyday - 27 Aug 2014 (27 Aug 2014, 9:26 pm)Jimmi wrote I don't mind the old GNE Presidents, but I'm not a big fan of the ex London ones especially the Prontos The engines on them sound like they need a full overhaul or replacement Re: RE: Go North East - Latest - Dan - 27 Aug 2014 (27 Aug 2014, 9:24 pm)Marcus wrote Am I the ONLY one who thinks that the DAFs were magnificent??I quite liked them too (just hope gtom doesn't see this post!) Some of the Worms were awful when stationary though. The rattle wasn't just an ordinary rattle... It felt like a tractor was plowing over your ear. I couldn't stand the Arriva ones and I recently rode an ex GNE example on the 21A a months back and my back was in pain from the seats. You just better hope that gtom is not reading this. They are quite possibly the worst buses I have been on, and to be quite frank they are useless. I dread to think how much lost mileage was accounted for on the Waggonway. Edit: Just googled Fainsa, how does anyone survive a journey on that??!! RE: Go North East - Latest - Jimmi - 27 Aug 2014 (27 Aug 2014, 9:30 pm)Dan wrote Have to admit the seating is pretty poor on them. The ex GNE DAF seats are far worse than a Tesma, I've managed two hours on the X93 on a Tesma and I was fine, two and a half hours on Urban 90s seats on the X61 was fine too, but 35 minutes on the 21A on those seats and I was in pain. That Yellow one which spent some time at Washington a few years ago and often saw use on the M1 was quite nice I thought, to be honest I quite liked them as I often used them when they were on the 50 also, they were better than those SPD's that's for sure. #AnotherMemberAddedToGtomsIgnoreListIGuess #HashtagsOnNEB RE: Go North East - Latest - Tom - 27 Aug 2014 (27 Aug 2014, 9:36 pm)Marcus wrote Probs has stuff like this splattered all over his home! The seats on 4001/6/7 aren't that bad! Urban90s can be decent if they have padding - and most of Arriva's examples don't have any. As for Temsas, the one time I was faced with one on the X93, I waited an extra half hour just to avoid sitting on plastic for 2 and a bit hours all the way to Scarborough. I find some Urban90s seats are not too bad, like the ones in the Scarlet Band Enviro 200s but Arriva's are quite worn which is why I try and sit at the back on proper bus seats. Same here on Arrivas Lowlanders, however for short journeys I can tolerate them RE: Go North East - Latest - Jimmi - 27 Aug 2014 (27 Aug 2014, 9:44 pm)mb134 wrote That must hurt for long journeys!! RE: Go North East - Latest - L469 YVK - 27 Aug 2014 I don't want to stir anything up here or anything and I'm not talking about all drivers but only a VERY small minority. I've noticed across two operators that several passengers have made complaints about drivers who are not only late, but are driving very slowly (i.e, not late by sticking to the speed limit but doing 20 in a 30). I've personally experienced it a few times. Anyone else had any similar experiences? Yeah it annoys me when drivers drive slow and end up falling behind the timetable, it only ever seems to happen to me when I want to catch another bus with a very tight connection time, like on the 7 once we arrived about 6 minutes late which resulted in me missing the 24 which was pulling out as we were arriving in Durham Bus Station and I then had to wait another 30 minutes for the next one. There is now only a few buses which are yet to be checked, so I discovered today, which means that the Wi-Fi on almost all 120 vehicles works. It has taken them a while, but they have got there in the end. Sat there with the iPad and surfed away to my hearts content. Quite fast, no lag and no dropping out. On a different note, GNE have adverts/coupons for a £1.99 McDonalds meal on some of their tickets. I imagine more vehicles will see them introduced over the next week or so. No idea how long the offer has been on, but haven't seen it mentioned on here previously. |
