RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2016 - citaro5284 - 03 Aug 2016 GNE have a good working relationship with Beamish, so cannot see the issue with them branding a bus up to advertise the museum. It isn't, to me its a good move for both Beamish and GNE. Anyone got a picture? It looks like councillors and presumably other stakeholders have been sent the following comms. Looks like Get Around weekly and monthly tickets are decreased, 90p fares now £1 but peak scrapped, and day tickets frozen. Just received this email re- simplified fares for young people in full time education. I don't understand how buses from those two schools are more expensive to use than other dedicated scholars services. Would love to know the reasons why. However, it is pleasing to see peak ticket pricing scrapped. Thats all i can think of. DCC have a list on their website, showing which schools have a supported service and which don't. There are others apart from Park View and St Bedes (such as Hermitage), but I have no idea if GNE provide a commercial scholars service to those schools. The ironic thing is, that commercially it could backfire - quite a number of those schools have GNE services operating in the vicinity who will be essentially undercutting the scholars service. Yep. We have the 15 to Durham/Consett which both come not long after the school buses have left and the 30 to Stanley (the 15:40 journey from Lanchester calls into the school anyway) RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2016 - Andreos1 - 04 Aug 2016 (04 Aug 2016, 8:25 am)S813 FVK wrote Yep. My mother complained when it went to 40p a day and thought I was scamming her 10p! She would be having kittens if I was still at school! Bring back 5p singles! Yeah for me, i would need to get the 30 to Stanley and then the 16 down to South Stanley - i could just walk but it would be much much easier just getting the school bus which goes direct. RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2016 - NK53 TKT - 04 Aug 2016 Stagecoach do that at my school, Stanley Travel run the scholars service but there is a special 18 service leaving slightly later on a morning from Walker Bus Terminal and I believe Stagecoach offer different fares on this service according to some people I know from school EDIT: A. Similar thing happens with the 158 scholars because the students of Gosforth East Middle also get the Q3 or the Arriva 46 (Ariva operate in the afternoon, GNE in the morning RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2016 - Adrian - 04 Aug 2016 Suppose it depends what the agreement is? Perhaps Durham Council have asked for scholars buses, but have little in the way of funding to pay for them, so have negotiated to pass the cost on to the students instead? Bit rubbish, but you wouldn't expect to get a dedicated bus service at little cost. Nothing to stop you using weekly or monthly tickets though. RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2016 - Andreos1 - 04 Aug 2016 http://www.durham.gov.uk/concessionaryspareseats Here's details of the schools in Durham and the various systems in place, including schools who don't have an agreement with the council, details of free school travel and £1.50 a day travel. There is a methodology/reasoning behind it, but unsure what that is at the moment. RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2016 - Jamie M - 04 Aug 2016 Is 353 the only bus to head out of a zone and terminate back inside it? Airport is inside T&W, The next stop is inside northumberland, whilst FLE is back in T&W. How does this work with network one passes et cetera? Network One passes are valid if boarding and alighting within the T&W sections. I've never seen anyone board in Prestwick while on the 353, There's no timetables up there either. And the Bus Stops are just Wooden Poles with the old style Arriva Flags there from the late 90s early 00s. Think I heard that said before but not 100% on that. Think the Vykings can stay at Deptford as I think they mainly only do short 9's and peak time 265's, also Chester-le-Street have Lolyne's that need replacing. RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2016 - Michael - 04 Aug 2016 No idea, its just what I've heard... maybe Dan or Citaro could confirm?
