East Midlands Bus Operations - LeeCalder - 16 Mar 2015 Yeah. I have a good knowledge of the area due to family down there and a load of them are linked to places etc RE: East Midlands Bus Operations - R852 PRG - 16 Mar 2015 (16 Mar 2015, 9:06 pm)citaro5284 wrote Angel, Tynedalexpress, Tyne Teex Xpress, Wear Tees Xpress, East Durham, Coaster, Cobalt Clipper, Loop, Orbit.....to name just a few that have meanings I think. A few reasons: ''Diamond'' services 43/44/44A - the former 'Diamond' bus company who operated in the area. ''Red Kite' services 45/46 - the famous Red Kite birds that can be seen on the route. ''Angel'' service 21 - passes the sight of the world-famous Angel of the North. ''The Waggonway'' services 28/28A/28B - runs along a former Waggonway route. But that said, you do have a few that I sometimes can't get my head around. ''Fab56'' service 56, ''Fab57'' service 57, etc, obviously competition winners. East Midlands Bus Operations - LeeCalder - 16 Mar 2015 That's when I mean branding has gone to far. Plus I feel the new corporate livery is half hearted RE: East Midlands Bus Operations - R852 PRG - 16 Mar 2015 (16 Mar 2015, 9:13 pm)citaro5284 wrote Dont think so, think it was our former MD's sense of humour! I remember reading somewhere that the Venture brand is named after the old Venture bus company, which operated around the Stanley/Consett area. That's a good list though Dan, doubt I would have been able to list all of that without having to ask a certain friend.... Guessed it would have been the historical context behind the acquisition of the Venture Transport Company (similar to OK Motor Services), but wasn't sure before checking up on it! Very much a man of the present and future - not one to dwell on the past. RE: East Midlands Bus Operations - S813 FVK - 16 Mar 2015 (16 Mar 2015, 9:25 pm)Dan wrote Venture - Historical context(?) As for judging the quality of the livery designs - I'm sure we can all bring out our inner Abraham Lubelski to voice our opinions in that respect. East Midlands Bus Operations - LeeCalder - 16 Mar 2015 Haha good point. TB have a good colour scheme haha RE: East Midlands Bus Operations - S813 FVK - 16 Mar 2015 Do GNE and TB have a relationship or is it just a coincidence that: Trent Barton have the Black Cat and Go North East had the Black Cats Trent Barton have the Red Arrow and Go North East have the Red Arrows Trent Barton (albeit jointly operated with SC) have the Pronto and GNE also have a pronto Plus Trent Bartons 'The threes' branded Versa 827 is named after Peter Huntley (https://flic.kr/p/iHyZro) RE: East Midlands Bus Operations - Dan - 16 Mar 2015 (16 Mar 2015, 10:10 pm)Robert wrote Do GNE and TB have a relationship or is it just a coincidence that:During the early days of route branding, I think senior management from both companies worked together. Money back guarantees were an idea Huntley implemented at Go North East following its success with Trent Barton. As you say it was all down to this man and his work with this company TAS. Peter worked on the restructuring of Trent Barton and then was offered the MDs job with GNE, with the intention of following on with the same model as was implemented at Trent Barton. It's something I've always wanted to see on Go North East's website. Some of them (Blaydon Racers/Crusader/Red Kite/Waggonway spring to mind?) include details of the historical context behind the brand name but the majority don't. I have added a link to the article again, rather than search through the forum. http://test.busandcoach.com/news/articles/profile-peter-huntley-change-management RE: East Midlands Bus Operations - DanPicken - 17 Mar 2015 (16 Mar 2015, 9:06 pm)citaro5284 wrote Angel, Tynedalexpress, Tyne Teex Xpress, Wear Tees Xpress, East Durham, Coaster, Cobalt Clipper, Loop, Orbit.....to name just a few that have meanings I think. Checked Stagecoach fleet cards quickly and the last I can see of it, is from period 7 last year and a transfer to Leyton. It also appeared in period 8 and into this year, still at Leyton. No doubt, it went to Brylaine via Ensign. Not sure on dates or whether it is a fairly new arrival.
