My take on the brand is that ''Country'' means Consett/Stanley/Chester-le-Street, etc. and ''Coast'' refers to Sunderland. Basically, it's a long stretch of a route that goes from the edge to the inner core, if that makes sense.

It makes sense to me, just I don't know how to explain it.

Fair enough if it's trying to create a link with the C2C route, but I'd hope it'd retain it's cycle friendly offering if this were the case.

I've used the services too many times to count over the years, as it's my local, and can't recall ever seeing a cyclist on any of the journeys. If there's nothing really being made from it, why continue it? 

But, as ever, I think we're overthinking this...

Brand names which I think are good are the ones that aren't to clunky. Things like lime, crusader, angel, drifter are very easy to remember and easy to say.
No one is ever going to say 'when's the next coast & country bus due' it's just to clunky.
The name itself isn't very obvious either, it isnt really a costal route like Coaster or Drifter. It goes to the city centre?! Which isn't really that close to the sea at all.
