As at March 2021, the fleet consisted of 1,532 buses, making it the third largest London Buses operator. Take it the buses on the routes getting withdrawn will be moved elsewhere to replace older buses in London?......... The North East will probable's end up with some no doubt. RE: London Bus Operations - Andreos1 - 02 Jun 2022 (02 Jun 2022, 6:28 am)citaro5284 wrote I see some 16 bus routes are facing the axe in LondonQuite a high number of services. Reading between the lines, it definitely seems to be politically motivated. I'd even go as far as suggesting it being part of a strategy to ensure the next London Mayor ends up being a tory one. Sure I read, because of the bail outs, for Transport for London would have to cut services... sure that was part of the deal? Unless I'm making that up. Similar to when Nexus were told to contract the metro ops out. Apparently it was the only way they would be eligible for funding. I'm sure London could survive with a few cuts... its not like they have many services which overlap anyway. Reading between the lines, it definitely seems to be politically motivated. Not really any worse than most places outside London - although London unusually has a large number of overlapping high frequency routes. GNE mostly cut those out up here already, or already reduced them (e.g. 56 from 10 to 12 to 15 mins).. No, it's not the Tyne & Wear or County Durham that Roger is on about. It's London. We need to get his thoughts on the NE and see what he thinks about the changes up here. Maybe he's totally unaware of these GNE changes. Someone needs to let him know. But surely he will be conflicted with his mate and fellow 10 percenter doing exactly the sort of thing that RF doesn't approve of.I’m sure that he’s already mentioned the GNE changes in passing in one of his tweets/blog posts. I’m sure that there will be plenty of new timetables for him to enthuse over! I’m not convinced that ANE haven’t already made their changes, and SNE haven’t really got a lot in South Shields/Sunderland to prune. RE: London Bus Operations - MetrolineGA1511 - 11 Jun 2022 In most cases the cuts will reduce the number of routes along certain roads and reduce through connections rather than being wholesale withdrawals. The Go-Ahead London cuts mean 7 route withdrawals, 45 buses worth of work and 95 drivers jobs eliminated. However it is believed that there will be no compulsory redundancies. RE: London Bus Operations - Michael - 26 Jul 2022 We are pleased to share photos of the ‘ie tram’ bus in production at Irizar’s factory in northern Spain. These sleek, zero-emission electric vehicles will operate on Route 358 (Crystal Palace to Orpington) as part Go-Ahead London’s ongoing commitment to sustainable transport. https://twitter.com/Go_Ahead_London/status/1551960536975155201?fbclid=IwAR0s1qwyUfBJFEr3q_hEBzaAaboqWrTnrwgr4dwGt_ijb4DssjCHKk8tJJ8 Sorry but was someone drunk when they designed them? - look horrible. Were first reported back in Oct 22 as being ordered, the photos from the bus expo (Nov 22) look really good. Doubt they'll be ordered up here, but you never know. https://www.focustransport.org/2022/11/irizar-ie-tram-shown-at-euro-bus-expo.html RE: London Bus Operations - Unber43 - 02 Feb 2023 I wish GNE would bring up the Citaros which are going to be displaced. I would like to see them on one of Newcastles Stagecoach routes (i.e.30/31), doubt GNE would want two different electric fleets at the minute. Be interesting if a demo ever comes up here.
