People can use they Nectar card, at say, Sainsbury's, and then use their Nectar points against a ticket purchase?

Yeah, they will be able to use their Nectar points at Sainsburys and tickets on VTEC, however you will need to spend quite a bit more on tickets to get the same free tickets through the current Reward scheme.

..and yet the focus groups were happy with this?

255pts on the current scheme would get you a free standard single, to anywhere on the network.
It will get you a sandwich from Sainsburys under the new scheme.

Apparently a focus group approved a scheme which could be used in a wide range of situations.
They obviously didn't realise how bad it would get

VTEC are offering a points amnesty, where 1 reward point, would be worth 6 Nectar.
My 1200pts would get me 2 first class singles and just fall short of a standard single as it stands.
Or, if I take up the offer 7,200 Nectar points (equiv to £72 at Sainsburys).

What exactly is happening with EC Rewards, someone was telling me recently VTEC will honour rewards outstanding for a while...

As for the livery, will it end up looking like The Pretendolino Livery

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - omnicity4659 - 27 Feb 2015

BREAKING NEWS: According to WNXX 91124 is the first to receive the Virgin EC livery. No image as yet.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - omnicity4659 - 27 Feb 2015

SPECIAL LIVERIES: 91110 and 91111 will retain their current liveries. Rumours are going around suggesting that 91101 may be going into a Virgin-style Flying Scotsman livery.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - Andreos1 - 28 Feb 2015

Last day to buy tickets, so you benefit from Rewards rather than Nectar.
Remember, you get points for postage - so worth paying the £1 charge, knowing the point will be added to your account. Handy if you just fall short.
The First Class lounges cost a fiver, but again, you get points added to your account.

Then come September when all the points are used up, you can transfer to BA and get their points for London flights.
Unless it has changed, two round trips bring a free single. The points are based per flight, rather than price paid.

Long story mate. I'll miss the GNE craic. It's either I pay £150+ to go via Kings Cross or I go Crap Country Tongue

That £150 could be your chance to survive. Choose wisely, Simmy.

Aye, quite a few, but I do most of the bookings for anyone going for meetings, so the points soon mount up...or should I say they did until 23.59 tonight!

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - Simmy - 28 Feb 2015

I am skint as a badger and have no points so TheTrainline.com it is Wink. As a student.

Possibly because trains will serve Newcastle before leaving the Main line to Sunderland?

Quite possible, but when you look at it, it does look like Sunderland on the map is between Newcastle and Morpeth.

Yeah, i have made a quick edit to the image to show how i think it should have looked (only it would be more professional):

The Newcastle - Sunderland EC test was a success. Technically the map is correct.

Platform Carriage marker signs and outside the first class lounge in Newcastle have been Virgin'd.

The issue is that the map is geographically incorrect - the line which comes up from Newcastle and across to Sunderland should in fact go back down again so that the map is geographically correct. Sunderland is not situated in between Newcastle and Morpeth...

Look at the Yorkshire routes...

Are they geographically correct?

I couldn't tell you (I dropped Geography at the end of Year 9 for a reason), but I'd guess not! The map is pretty condensed down in Yorkshire, though, so I'd put it down to wishing to retain a good layout. Up north, we don't have that issue, so it comes across as a mistake.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - Adrian - 28 Feb 2015

Surely it's just for illustrative purposes though? At the same time, the X1 map shows Mount Pleasant and Fatfield Bridge between Philadelphia and Herrington Burn.

That map is for two separate routes though? If thats the case, after the place the routes divide from eachother, one route has nothing to do with the other.
