RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - mb134 - 07 Jun 2015 Something I've been thinking recently, is there any reason for Arriva's switch to Gemini's after the '09 E400 batch, and the switch back after 2011/12? RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - omnicity4659 - 07 Jun 2015 (07 Jun 2015, 10:52 am)mb134 Something I've been thinking recently, is there any reason for Arriva's switch to Gemini's after the '09 E400 batch, and the switch back after 2011/12? Because Geminis were crap. Possibly fuel efficiency? No idea personally. RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - tyresmoke - 07 Jun 2015 (07 Jun 2015, 11:01 am)Simmy Possibly fuel efficiency? No idea personally. More than likely because they're a VDL product and Arriva are the importers for VDL products into the UK. Same reason we ended up with a ton of Pulsars! And the Temsas, dreaded things RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - Jimmi - 07 Jun 2015 (07 Jun 2015, 11:23 am)Simmy And the Temsas, dreaded thingsI think Tesma's actually perform quite well, the things that let them down though is the body, the wacky seating layout and the worst of all the seats themselves, makes sitting on the Urban90's seats in the Lowlander's feel like a sofa in comparison to them and I saw a photo of some of them being held in place with what looks like Velcro. Is there anymore news about the extra ones coming to Redcar yet? RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - tyresmoke - 07 Jun 2015 (07 Jun 2015, 11:28 am)Jimmi I think Tesma's actually perform quite well, the things that let them down though is the body, the wacky seating layout and the worst of all the seats themselves, makes sitting on the Urban90's seats in the Lowlander's feel like a sofa in comparison to them and I saw a photo of some of them being held in place with what looks like Velcro. There was a report of at least one heading up the A1 last week presumably to Thorntons? Not expected at Redcar until at least the end of next month is my understanding at present. Also reported that some deckers from London have arrived at Thorntons - can anyone go down this week and check what is in the yard? RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - omnicity4659 - 07 Jun 2015 (07 Jun 2015, 11:36 am)tyresmoke Also reported that some deckers from London have arrived at Thorntons - can anyone go down this week and check what is in the yard? I'll pop down tomorrow. RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - Andreos1 - 07 Jun 2015 (06 Jun 2015, 9:19 pm)tyresmoke 30 by the top with a decent one/light load. Redcar's are fitted with Greenroad so they tend to lay off a bit whereas we can go flat out, lol I never noticed which one it was, the queue and people trying to overtake it, was the main focus of my attentions. Interesting to see the Greenroad effect in full swing, if it was a Redcar example. I would be worried sick, if it was a Stockton run! RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - tyresmoke - 07 Jun 2015 (07 Jun 2015, 3:29 pm)Andreos1 I never noticed which one it was, the queue and people trying to overtake it, was the main focus of my attentions. Depends if it had gone into limp mode again, though ours tend to be less regular doing that now. Memories of crawling up Brotton bypass early on a morning at about 9mph in the pitch black.... Not much fun! RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - Lm2606 - 07 Jun 2015 Blyth like to keep their services going regardless of what bus it is. This is why you will see B5LH's on the X10, MAX Geminis on the X13 and Pulsars on the X4. RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - omnicity4659 - 08 Jun 2015 (07 Jun 2015, 11:36 am)tyresmoke Also reported that some deckers from London have arrived at Thorntons - can anyone go down this week and check what is in the yard? Nothing London-ish there, just a Sapphire Pulsar, a GNE red vehicle and a couple of Arriva blue vehicles. Can't describe much else as I was passing on a 30. RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - MrPottski - 08 Jun 2015 (07 Jun 2015, 11:21 am)mb134 Cheers allOh if only! RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - South Tyne Lad - 08 Jun 2015 (07 Jun 2015, 11:36 am)tyresmoke There was a report of at least one heading up the A1 last week presumably to Thorntons? Would it not have been a good idea last year to send all the Temsas to get refurbed to MAX standard and get put on the routes converted to MAX buses? 1: they'd put some decent seating in! 2: there newer by around 5 years than the omnicitys 3: are they more reliable than omnicitys? 4: omnicitys would go to running normal routes ( 63/64 and others ) Theve got quite a big engine in them aswell if I remember its 6.7 litres if only they don't explode when running a X15! RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - forster - 09 Jun 2015 Blyth's withdrawn MPD's 1733,1742,1750,1795 & 1796 are parked outside the back of the depot, where they have been for some time now. RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - omnicity4659 - 09 Jun 2015 (08 Jun 2015, 5:25 pm)South Tyne Lad 1: they'd put some decent seating in! Maybe. RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015 - Kuyoyo - 09 Jun 2015 (08 Jun 2015, 5:25 pm)South Tyne Lad Would it not have been a good idea last year to send all the Temsas to get refurbed to MAX standard and get put on the routes converted to MAX buses? The seating in the Temsas cannot be changed - they did investigate that a year or two ago but due to how the present seating is fixed, it was deemed a no-go.
