RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2016 - NK53 TKT - 14 May 2016

I know this may seem like a stupid question but does it matter if the solar board on the 88/88A is run by 4933 and not 4935 and if so why?

Any Solar can be allocated to that board, 4935 only transferred over so that the 88/88A would not take up one of Riverside's spare Scania's to be allocated to that board.

Sorry if it doesn't make sense, I'm typing on my phone haha.

(14 May 2016, 4:58 pm)biglugs@yahoo.com Did go north east take all of jaylines bus services in peterlee and seaham if so what routes?

The 148, Seaham to Houghton was eventually turned into the 238, Sunderland to Barwell. The 211 was turned into the X7, and other local Peterlee and Seaham services were all merged into GNE local services. There is a Seaham town service 143 which is now ran by DCC as far as I'm aware.

To add; buses, mainly solos and mpds, had Go North East - Jayline logos shortly after the takeover before the launch of East Durham brand. Short lived service 30 Hartlepool - Peterlee - Sunderland also ran around this time to compliment the 231 and X5 (pre X35)

Wasn't the 30 branded?, I'm sure it was called "Thirty" or something like that.

(14 May 2016, 4:58 pm)biglugs@yahoo.com Did go north east take all of jaylines bus services in peterlee and seaham if so what routes?

GNE took over the service buses and routes, since the bus services there did was mostly secured by durham county council, also won the contract for service 238 peterlee to Easington originally ran by sherburn coaches which eventually got turned into service 207/208 circulars,  service 210 (211) got extended from peterlee via A19 to Sunderland (same route as Arriva X21) but the extension to Sunderland was eventually withdrawn to the lack of passengers on this section. service 211 peterlee to Middlesbrough was eventually withdrawn in the favour of service X9, Arriva service 246 secured by DCC got into the hands of GNE and renumbered as 206, service 30 was totally different as this service was put on to compete against Arriva service 23  (230) with another compete service D4 in Durham to compete against Arriva service 64 as when GNE purchased Northunbria Coaches and then started running the bargain buses (X41/X42?) with cheaper fares than Arriva, then Arriva started to run buses as 153 against GNE 53/54 then GNE with D4 and 30, but before it go way out of hand both companies came to agreement with each carving up an area each.

yep. using the oldest MPDS at the time. after the service 30 was withdrawn, the "Thirty" branded mpds were parked up in the dead aisle at the side of Deptford main building withdrawn.

5420 has been withdrawn from the evening 20s and replaced with 4990 at Park Lane.
Teenage Lads were binge drinking at the back of the bus and left a right mess, both sick and alcohol.

Jayline solos didn't last long, as when GNE started to use the MPDS instead then the solos were transferred over to the consett local services before being withdrawn.

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2016 - Rapidsnap - 14 May 2016

IIRC the Solos lasted a few month before been transferred over to Stanley after Go North East took over the services of Stanley Travel. Then all the vehicles were transferred to Plymouth and then onto Go South Coast along with 599 to 602.

I think the red, yellow and blue needs a revival of sorts. A lot more people than just enthusiasts would probably be happy to see it. It's a very strong branding.

Indeed, one of my favourite modern liveries, it really had a strong sense of identity. Unlike the plain red.
